Hi,
I am looking for an external TV Tuner card preferably within the budget of Rs1200-1500 and I should be able to save the programs on my hard disks too (if possible within this budget then only)and I want to know the price of both Internal and external Cards..
Please let me know the price comparison of various brands.

My system configuration is as follows:
PIII 600 MHz
192 MB RAM

Looking forward for the reply
Thanks

Your budget is simply too low...You'll have to triple it to get anything resembling 'decent' for an external card.

hey well CAS is gonna come in most parts of delhi soon.. then wat can be the solutions for TV on PC? is buying a tv tuner card this time advisable? also what cards are good any internal or external in range upto 3k or 3.5k? (lol i have put my question in someone else's thread, forgive me buddy..but the topic is same :))

Its useless to get any tv tuner card... if you are going to watch tv via a Set Top Box... a regular tv tuner card (internal or external) can never change channels on it.... forget about scheduling or time shifting....

HOWEVER, this card can do all the needful if you are able to find it in India!

External tv tuner cards in tht range will only come from cheapo chinese companies like techcom, mercury, frontech etc. n forget about recording from these tv tuner cards..they will just about let u use ur monitor as a tv..n shud i say the tuning quality is pathetic.. there are external tv tuner cards tht let u record via usb, but they are much costlier and not worth because of the usb speed bottleneck...the internal tv tuner uses the pci bus which is way much faster allowing much better recording and timeshifting functions..

so better option for u wud be to go for an internal tv tuner card..there are many good brands available..but i think pinnacle and compro are by far the most common choice for quality tuner cards..

I myself own a compro videomate tv fm tuner card..has been with me for nearly three years..never given any problems and i think the tuner quality and recording functions are very good..plus i love the bundled remote..its way better than the pinnacle remote..:)

only cause of concern is the set top box/dth service which has ruined the joy of using the tv tuner cards..u no more have control in ur hands..tht remote is rendered useless..instead u have to use the set top box remote to change channels.. your tv tuner card is just another video capture card now...tht just plain sux..
