Advice on USB to 3.5mm for laptop

Hi folks,

My laptop's headphone jack has stopped working for sound output (mic still works). I don't really have the time/patience to troubleshoot this right now and I'm thinking of getting a USB adapter to cheaply solve the issue. I need to take video calls on this so it has to work for that.

Couple of questions:
- Does any USB C to 3.5 adapter work with laptops or are there different types? I'm thinking of getting either of these:
- https://www.amazon.in/Portronics-Connector-Headphone-Converter-Compatible/dp/B0CVN4DNWY Portronics
- https://www.amazon.in/Sounce-Connector-Headphone-Converter-Compatible/dp/B0D11PLVD9 Sounce - has a couple of bad reviews on the front page.
- Why are USB A adapters so much more expensive than USB C? I thought given that A is so old those would be cheaper?
e.g. https://www.amazon.in/Verilux®-External-Splitter-Converter-Compatible/dp/B0BTDLRTNL is 350

Edit: Laptop is a ThinkPad L490.

What I find confusing with this product is it says it supports mic. I don't see headsets with a mic. I see either a mic or earphones.

This one claims TRRS. So mic and headset. Irritating thing here is apple reverses the order I think. So if it works with apple then it won't work with a PC or android. Because mic and headphones are reversed. Meaning you need an extra jack on top to right it.

Where do you see that? One below is not that much

This one looks promising

You mean in the last product image? That's a fair point, but a couple of reviews mention that it works well with laptops including the headset's mic.
and some others I saw

Not that much in absolute terms, yea, but 1.5x what the USB C ones cost.

Sounce has some reviews that say it stopped working very soon, so not really keen on that one.
