Hey guys,

finally i realised its time to go wireless. Been reading what not on the net, still getting confused with the b's g's and n's

Well, my proposed setup is like this..
Connection - MTNL Triband
Desktop - will be connected via wire, used for heavy downloads (read:torrents).
Compaq V6000 - connected wirelessly for mostly surfing, and youtube at the most.
Acer Aspire - connected wirelessly for mostly surfing.
Samsung Wave mobile (courtesy TE) - connected wirelessly, Checking mail and minimalistic surfing.
Galaxy Tab (awaited) - connected wirelessly for mostly surfing

Coverage:
should be able to cover atleast 1000 sqft, with atleast ONE wall in between.

Main requirement:
Should be easy to configure and use, as my networking knowledge is .....

Budget:
upto 4K, but ofcourse the lower the better

Any suggestions?? :)

cheapest u'll get Netgeat WGR614 for around 1.5k..m using one without any issue till now. signal strength is also quite gud

Netgear WGR614: is ofcourse my first choice for its low price....

but can some one confirm that it will suit my setup....really scared of "i TOLD YOU SO" posts :(

The WGR614 is a decent option for a router. Used it for a while and it's been rock-solid under 24/7 torrenting!

If you're looking for an all-in-one solution, i.e., modem+wireless router in one device, you can check out the Linksys WAG320N. I wouldn't really recommend the WAG160N as I was using it earlier and it had horrible coverage and was pretty unstable. The WAG320N seems good so far. Don't know the price locally. You could look around though. You'll also find a lot of Buffalo, Netgear and D-Link models for pretty cheap. Can't comment on those since I've never used any of them.

Ya, my local vendor here in mira road (mumbai) gave me a long list of models......the one he seemed to suggest was from iBaton (same company as iBall i guess)

but need some reviews from TE guys....

(PS: how come there is not much info about wireless modems?? ...or am i searching it wrong :( ....if there are already such threads please guide me)

@ravi: ...have been using MTNL triband 1000rs wala unlimited....no complains so far....btw...what do u think is better than MTNL?

during multiple torrents i have got a max of 215kbps actual download. Some better is surely welcomed :)

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

looks like invisiblex is running same thread as this.....will continue there..

(is there something called "Thread merge" ?? :) )

MTNL is good as long as you don't fall in any problem. No phone support, non-technical support staff, if there is any billing problem.. its very hard to get corrected.
