advice / suggestion needed , PC for parents

Hi,

I am planing for a budget PC for my in-laws.

Total Budget 20k (PC + monitor)

What you feel is good option 1) buying PC 2) assembling ?

In general what's the performance of assembling PC? I mean reliability?

After my college days (many years) I am not this assembling world as working and busy.

If I do it then I will get more than if I buy it. But service is a issue.

So please suggest and recommend a config.

Thanks,
BT

If your inlaws dont have much knowledge of PC and service can be an issue then go for the branded PCs.

Just get a basic system from HCL/Compaq/Acer. They have some decent PC's in that range (20k-22k) with Intel dual Core 3GHz, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB/500GB HDD and 18.5" TFT monitor.

These usually carry 1 year On-Site warranty. But they mostly have 3 years warranty if you pay extra upfront.

Thanks DA,

The pdf is very good source of price info.

Still if I take risks , mobo+cpu+ram (2gb) + hdd 500gb +smps , budget 12k can burn extra for best in class.

Thanks,

BT
