I hv a deal of Sony Vaio TZ 17GN:
1.2GHZ Core 2 Duo ULV
100Gb HDD
2GB Ram
DVD Writer
11.1" 1366x768 LED screen
1.2kg

The price is somewhere near 35k

Is it a fair deal , the laptop is about 10 months old & 2 months warranty is left. I've still haven't looked at the laptop though, but what do u people say, is it a good deal??

Pricing is decent if the laptop is in good condition, but i really dont see the need to get one of those.

Just get an Asus E1000H netbook for ~22-24k with similar specs brand new with warranty. Performance of these 2 should be similar + the Asus has 5hrs of bat life :)

Whats the price of a new Sony Vaio TZ 17GN BTW? :S
I'm not an authority on laptops, but if the price difference is high, i'd go for it :)

@techie: i did consider that option, but i have these points in sony's favor: it is slimmer thn eeepc, hs btr screen( size & resolution) , hs inbuilt dvd writer , is lighter, & it's a VAIO ..

@vince: it's a discontinued model , but tz37gn ( u7700, draft n , r extra here), sells for 1.15lac

Its second hand with only 2 months warranty left and is an older model. What do you think is going to happen if something goes wrong with it? The repair cost would prob be same as another EEEPc too :bleh:

Think about that :)

Personally, I would say get a nice netbook. Your call of course, but think over it. Unless you want it only for the flaunt value.

price @ 35K for a secondhand?...you can get a FAR FAR better new laptop from toshiba, hp etc @ 40k!! new one

and yea EEPC @ arnd 20k is far far better deal

if the colors etc are not faded, then a vaio demands a second look, its certainly is a class apart if flaunt value is what you need and if you are in college etc.

I would recomend against buying it. Irrespective of whether its a ULV, firstly, its 2 generations (soon 3) behind the new laptops on the market. Secondly, I dont think the build quality on the slim vaios is good. Finally, the proccy+IGP is pretty much crappy, as I have used it in a HP compaq 2510p which, IMO is a similar proccy. HD videos will stutter.

Would suggest to get either a Atom or a Brazos. If you can pick up a Thinkpad X120e, you may just feel better.

BTW, whats your requirment anywyas?
