Hi,

At my office I am working with 4 divisions and my office is already using Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express to manage email from 3 divisions since the beginning. Now for the 4th division I am looking for a new email software as I don't want to mess with others. So could you advise a reliable email managing software which will keep all my mails and won't crash. Though I have never used something else apart the ones mentioned above, I was thinking of using Mozilla Thunderbird. How is this one? does anyone have any experience on it. If there is something better then pls let me know. I open to options. I have to setup the new account by tomorrow evening.

Sunil

there are other clients like:

1. Thunderbird- very flexible secure and easy

2. Claws Mail- very light weight

3. Spicebird

4. Zimbra- this is preferred for business bcoz of its support for a broad range of email clients and mobile devices

5. Sylpheed

You may try these

all are free, among these i have used only thunderbird.

Have been using Lotus Notes in Office for over 3 years now.... But it requires dedicated support from IT department for upgrades and modifications and as mentioned would be expensive....

Why not you use Outlook for everything? You can create multiple accounts within outlook rt? Why have separate e-mail clients for each?
Anyways since you consider outlook express good enough for your needs, no need to go for expensive solutions. Thunderbird should do just fine.

MS Outlook is a solid piece of software and very manageable. You will find it difficult to shift out from it once you are used to its features.

I am using Mozilla Thunderbird latest edition at the moment, working stable on my 2GB mail folder. However, there are minor stability issues if you don't maintain your mailboxes properly.

Lotus Notes is good, but there is a learning curve associated with managing it.

Evolution is also good, will give almost the feel of MS Outlook, again its stability on bigger mail boxes is worth checking.

You wont need multiple email clients for multiple email accounts. That would only increase the system load and reducing your productivity toggling between differnt email clients. Get MS outlook . configure multiple accounts. You can also create multiple profiles in outlook so that you mantain each data file easily.

I feel businesses are nowadays starting their move to alternatives to M$... Its a trend now a days... saves money.

In such a case, Thunderbird is a good starter.

Ok guys I have downloaded Thunderbird, have configured it and it is now up and running. Will get back incase I am in trouble. If it doesn't work I can always use MS Outlook. Thanks for your replies.
