Aero Glass Media Player in XP ...<showoff>

There has been a plethora of posts regarding emulation of the Aero glass look in XP, especially with the eye candy of Vista's Media Player.

Obviously true aero glass (transparency +blur) is not possible in winxp's explorer but transparency can make things look more appealing for those of us windows users who refuse to migrate to the bloat of vista.

This is a preview of my PanelsUI config for foobar2000.

The config is resolution and wallpaper independant.

The script is several pages long and took me weeks to code.

(let me remind you that this is a showoff and i don't intend to share my config or image resources anytime soon :P. Perhaps sometime when I am in a good mood.)

I encourage people to write their own configs. It is funny to note that I see most people on TE running foobar on AVA or FofR.

Foobar is much more powerful if you know how you can customize each and every detail of its layout.

I migrated to 0.9.5 with facets, yet nothing looks more appealing than PanelsUI. My gratitude to terrestrial@hydrogenaudio for his excellent plugins.

I learned some coding using eejadx's wmp config and FofR. I wanted to design it such that I could add more functionality to the player, with a choice to switch between the maximum number of panels.

Inputs invited. I can help with some code snippets for PanelsUI for those who wanna get started.

I sincerely hope this is one helluva config for ol' foo and deserves a special thread in this forum.

On a rainy day, I'll post a tutorial.

Nice Config :)

Here @ TE we believe in sharing our knowledge. :)

The more you share the more you get.

A Tutorial wud be really helpful. [But its your call]

Looks Awesome. Wish I knew how to program :(

Which windows theme are you using please give the name.

Okay. Will post a tutorial soon. Busy lately with a few interviews and studies.

I promise my 200th post would be an exhaustive tutorial.
I am using a customized version of Miretank's Memoria/Wind User Interface v2.
Miretank on deviantART

I should point it out that the config is still a work in progress (as it has been for several weeks) and several foobar components are still in beta (it sucks that there are no transparent background mods for columns ui playllist and foo_explorer or even a good playlist switcher with transparent background. (I am talking of the details view pane).

The tutorial wud be very long so please be patient while I draft it. Currently my code is optimized for my own music folder layout and lyric/cover art. I have to define several pvars for a config which would be portable.

The config is much prettier than it looks in the screens (which though very high quality are optimized for web)
and I could not showcase all the innovations in the config like no artefacts in the transparent buttons ( which is a bug/limitation in panelsui such that anything below a transparent image button gets screwed), highlighting effects, docked panels previous/next mode buttons.

I have not yet made a mini mode layout
And yes Milkdrop is awesome!!!!. You can view all your winamp visualizations(foo_vis_schpeck) or Window Media Player (foo_wmpvis) visualizations in the visualization pane. The coverart plugin as yet is buggy. You can scroll through your playlist and play a song but you cannot switch between songs (the guy who mde the plugin admits it and as long as you are using his plugin in a column ui interface or docked panel it does work if have set your player in follw cursor mode but it fails in panel mode. Lets hope he continues developing his plugin). Lyric show works flawlessly in Now Playing mode but I am yet to find a better plugin for the view mode.

There are several more buttons yet to be added to the breadcrumbs address bar and pop up menu buttons have not yet been implemented.

I have not switched to vista hence there is no separate config for vista.
If I do in the future, I'll make another config which makes use of the internal aero rendering instead of the png overlays I am currently using.

The config is not lean and fb2k uses upwards of 55 megs when playing ( even more in visualization mode).
Due to the intensive effects, legacy pcs will not be able to see the full power of the config (resource hungry foobar :P another first.)

Thank you all for your interest and remarks.

If the config is a success, I'll make a black transparency config in the near future too.
