This may not seem like a big deal for big cities but TN govt is going to roll out affordable BB plans throughout TN soon and the plans are super affordable compared to the current BSNL plans (The sole provider in many towns) and Airtel (Super expensive in Tier II towns but better than BSNL)
Speed - FUP - Price (Supposedly including Service Tax!)
2mbps - 2GB - Rs.299
2mbps - 5GB - Rs.499
2mbps - 10GB - Rs.549
2mbps - 20GB - Rs.649
4mbps - 20GB - Rs.799
4mbps - 40GB - Rs.899
Currently my folks are paying BSNL Rs.945 + ST for 8GB at 2mbps :| With such super affordable plans they can easily move to 20GB or 10GB plan and pay much lesser.
Vodafone is providing the bandwidth and local cable operators will provide the ground support. Hope it pushes BSNL to offer more competitive plans throughout the state.

Post FUP 512Kbps.
It even has top up pack (expect Rs.299 plan) to continue with base plan speed I guess.
