I use a mic for video voiceovers and video calls. My regular mic was a Blue Yeti, which I found to be a great condenser mic.
But recently construction work has started on the empty plot next door to our building, and is expected to continue for a couple of years. The construction noise gets easily picked up on my blue Yeti, and I expect it would be the same for all condenser mics because of their sensitivity. So I find myself in the market for a dynamic mic which has lower sensitivity.
Now when you casually browse Amazon, beginner dynamic mics seem to be very inexpensive, but one soon realizes most of them have XLR output. This needs a separate XLR to USB hardware (called a USB interface) to be connected to a PC, driving up the total cost.
So I have been looking for entry level Dynamic Mics with USB output, ideally with a budget between 4000 INR to 10,000 INR.
After research on Youtube I came up with this list:
1) Rode Podcaster / Shure MV7 - Probably the gold standards, but out of budget.
2) Samson Q9U - Great value for money but is it different enough from the Q2U to justify the double price?
3) Samson Q2U - Probably the best compromise between features and cost; 8k INR but 69$ from the US
4) Audio Technica ATR2100x - The mic that the Q2U is based upon.
5) FDUCE SL40 - a new wildcard entrant, available only from the US. Is this better than the Q2U? Will it be too heavy and need a heavy-duty (expensive) mount?
Appreciate all tips and suggestions in this regard.
