90K+ AI laptops that can help with Graphics work

My budget - 60 K to 1 lakh, can stretch max to 1.2 lakh

What do I do with it? - I am mainly into graphics programs - Blender, GIMP, Krita, Inkscape, Audacity, Davinci Resolve. I also like to install and use AI plugins for these software.

I like to try tools like Ollama, like to try local LLMs and use Stable Diffusions, run local modals if my machine is strong enough ( if budget permits )

I prefer Dell, but if the cost is too much, I think can also settle for HP. Not sure how good are Asus, Acer or Lenovo

Since I do a lot of graphics as well, I would like true colours on my screen. I think an decent IPS display handles it well. I will using an external monitor anyway, so need support for that as well.

I prefer 15.6 inch screen minimum if possible

I was in the early stages of buying a laptop for graphics work when I started hearing about AI laptops. I see decent 50 TOPS at 80K from HP Omen. I am totally confused now, because mostly AI laptops do not have a GPU at all.

I like the fact that they have NPU, but no GPU sound a bad thing to me. Is there any Dell or HP model under 1 - 1.2 K range that can handle these needs? I would also like to try EMI.
PS: some of my friends suggested buying a laptop with at least 6GB VRAM for Blender needs
 
Skip on ai laptops.
50 tops is NO where near enough. It might run a really small parameter model, but it will suffer greatly when used for just a bit higher ai stuff.

No GPU is really really really bad, like extremely considering your work mostly revolves around graphical stuff


If you really want to do the ai stuff, i would recommend a pc.

A 5060ti 16gb offers 759 ai tops which should be decent.
This should also do a great job in terms of handling graphical workload.


However if you are still for laptop, i recommend a laptop with atleast 8-12gb of vram.
This one I great too but cooling wont be a small issue on most of not every d-gpu laptop.

Resolve and some editing softwares do not have the necessary hardware encoders and decoders on Intel systems . A low end Apple is much faster than a high end Intel based system . At least that is what most editors write about .

Maybe OP prefers a windows system over mac.
Plus it's not confirmed weather they want to go with Intel or amd.

Yup .. got it . I have been putting up what I have been researching for a while . I am getting into video editing and was surprised that except for Intel Arc and the latest Nvidia cards , most graphic cards are not suitable for video editing .

But why do you think a mac based system would do a better job to fulfill OP's requirements compared to a pc?

I have already given the reason . The Mac have encoders and decoders built into the chip for video processing . Nvidia or AMD do not have . Intel Arc has and the latest Nvidia cards have . The processors can do the processing but it would take a lot more time to get it done . End of the day , why invest on Intel processor and a graphic card which are not optimized for video editing ?

That is what I learnt in the last 2 weeks as I am about to invest on video editing hardware and software .

7840HS + 4060 - a good performance laptop, but expensive & bulky for sure

Laptop 4060 has "233 AI TOPS". I doubt you can get a better CPU + GPU combination than that. See if there are any Legions available locally with those specs under 1.1L.
