Air cooler for Ryzen 7/9 X CPU

Nice. I looked at the review on Tom's Hardware but didn't have time for a detailed read. A quick glance seems to indicate that the AF 36 is comparable to the AG400 in performance but a bit quieter. I like the way the cooler does not overhang into RAM space for these two coolers. But the price of the AF 36 is on the same level as the AG620 in India whereas the AG400 costs about two-thirds of that.

@Pimpom In the same boat as you, I've picked 7900 for better thermals. If you're going to pick the X variant or the newer 9000 series I'd vouch for not looking at any other cooler than arctic liq freezer III due to their specialized plate design corresponding with the hotspots of the newer ryzen chips... 240 or 360 is your choice. I didn't understand if you are specifically avoiding AIOs? Even arctic liq freezer II is great...

If you do buy cheaper cooler but it runs hot, we don't have 21 ambient, undervolt and underclock if needed.

AG620 was good enough for air cooling when i bought. These things can last a decade, makes no sense to save small amounts.
If you have space in cabinet i would go for AG620 or equivalent.
There is a Cooler master two tower cooler, 620S, for low 3000s when i was looking. It has lower ram clearance, but if it blocks, you can just shift the ( 1 of 2) fan upwards and it should be fine.
Probably will be better than single tower ones, esp for 12/16 cores.

Liquid coolers have some risk, does not seem worth it to me.

Price is not the final deciding factor but I like to evaluate the pros and cons of everything.

I feel the same way. Not only because of the risk but also because it's a bit cumbersome.
