Aircel SIM and Mircomax 350G Dongle

Hey guys. A little bit over a year ago I got one Aircel 3G Data Dongle (Mircomax 350G) with an Aircel SIM inside it.

Just recovered the device among some junk. The Aircel SIM is pretty much defunct.

My question is, can I by a new regular AIRCEL 3G sim and use those amazing unlimited plans via the dongle on my laptop? I'm asking because I'm not entirely sure the previous SIM that was already there was just a normal SIM (phone calls, texts) or a data only sim, so want to make sure a new aircel 3G sim will work.
 
just activate 3g on new sim and then insert it in that usb stick :D

settings can be found with Google for 3g ;)

It will work great but what unlimited plans are u talking on 3g ?????

I have only heard of 2g UL plans which i am currently using :P
 
R U sure after FUP speed will not be capped to 64kbps or 32 kbps ?
And there will real UL data @2G(236kbps EDGE) mode ?
I have to try if its real UL.
Though in my area Aircel network sucks.....
 
Got my friend's sim to test it out.

I plugged in the device, software installed as usual

Now the fuc***g device won't get detected when I fire it up with the SIM card.

This was what I was scared of and why I wasn't purchasing the SIM card. Device not detected. WTF?
 
NO wonder it was in the junk buddy. I got myself a swell deal yesterday, but the device which i got does not work all the time :P
 
they don't cap the speed as I am able to surf smoothly just some times they scuk for like one day in a month ;)

I always prefer the Rs. 301 Plan which is UL for 100 days :D

even @ that price and if even if it was [ which is not ] @ 16kbps I am still happy rather then paying for UL 750 Bsnl in my area where there are thousands of Problems with cabling and light ;)

No no it was working. It was in the junk because I went to college and it's been lying like that ever since, even the sim card was inside. No reason for it to not work. Lights blinking, software installed on it's own. Then WHY?

Lucky you! What speeds do you get? I tested it with Rs 37 pack (200 MB with a validity of 7 days), and the speed was capped at 128k as soon as I crossed the limit! :(

My device has started working again! Anywyas, best of luck with your endeavors. Did not mean to be rude :)

just install the device first and see if u can query the modem. if it detects as a modem the device is fine. installing a modem is not dependent on the sim
switch ports install uninstall software and drivers
 
@varkey : normally they are @ 236 kbps but then after some time it goes on 280+ till 300 kbps :)

But that is on range again ;) but 236kbps is fix :D

good for surfing and even downloading 100 mb file in one & half hour or even in one hour.
 
^ Great. They might have capped at 256k instead of 128k! :P 256k is pretty good for basic surfing and occassional downloads! :)
 
I think it is always better something rather then nothing :D

it some times even goes to 750 kbps :D which gave me 50 kbps speed and still i was able to surf for good :)

It's all about range and tariff ;)
