Airtel 128 Unlimited plan any good?

Hi,
I have a basic BSNL broadband connection(400mb limit) and am looking to upgrade. Not really happy with BSNL. Customer service is not great. Looking to switch to Airtel. Couple of questions -
(1). Is the 128 kbps unlimited plan good?. What are typical d/l speeds. Looking to save a few hundred rs here compared to the 999 plan
(2). Is it true that if there are 2 people having similar conections in a building, the speed gets halved?(128/2 = 64). Heard about this for Airtel only.

I've used a few ISP's and recommend Airtel over any other primarily for stability, secondly for service and support.

1. For 700 bucks a month, it's good - download speeds will be 16kb/sec at any time - some places experience 2x that speed at night, not in Bangalore however.

2. Not true - they can't possibly do that and call it a 128kbps connection :) You can always use a bandwidth meter to check your connection speed and if it's low, contact them (this was a bigger issue with Hathway in Bangalore when they launched, which is why I dumped them!)
 
you wont always get 16kBps download speed though..... it willvary from 12-16....

And in Bangalore too, you have double bandwidth in the night
 
Double speed is availale in banglore and airtel service is very very good. The speed does vary sometimes but most of the time you will end up getting 12+kb/sec download speed and also the upload n download speed is same so it will help you a lot in torrents ;)
 
I agree with the above poster. Consider 12kb/s as an average dl speed, not 16kb/s. If you're lucky, you'll get 15kb/s cumulative if you have multiple downloads (torrents for example) running.
 
wit single download in flashget i always get 15-16 kb downloads...

dunno about the 2x part.... cauz its not avail in chennai.

but i think ur move from bsnl to airtel will be a bit difficult in the beginnin.. cauz u`ll be down from 256 . but i`ll realize the benifits of this bein unlimited..
 
^^ Am using 128Kbps with double bandwidth in the night. 90% of the time i get 15~16 very easily and 29~32Kbps in night:D
