sorry for a little out of thread question, But I wasn't aware of Rs. 98 Airtel GPRS Plan. It should be available in DELHI too!!! right??

I have an iPhone 4, currently have Rs. 198/2GB plan for my Airtel Post-Paid.

My GPRS usage is under 200mb, 95% of it only consumed in PUSH mail. I don't see any reason why I'm paying Rs. 100 more when the plans are identical..any views?? shall I get this one activated now??

pls guide!!!!

98Rs Plan is only for airtel prepaid users.

^^ For Airtel postpaid users, just put in a porting request, your GPRS rental would change from Rs 198 to Rs 94.
Just tell them that its expensive, the airtel guys will offer it for Rs 94.

@gaurish, call Airtel CC & tell tem to send Mobile Office settings to your device.
when i inserted the SIM card on my samsung 551, Airtel instantly delivered the required settings
btw, my 98 pack expired last week, the total unused bandwidth was 1970.xxMB :P

i had used google maps, my tracker, endomondo, latitude, facebook, gmail,.... every day, still such small usage.

dunno how to use the gprs connection from phone to PC, Samsung PC suite doesnt have dialer feature like Nokia suite :(

I need details of the Rs 250 / 8GB / 3 months plan. I want to go for this because it reduces the cost/month. CC told me that just recharge for 250 and it will be activated. Seems kind of special recharge :S

I had asked the local shopkeeper about the difference of recharge and topup and he said this bifurcation is ONLY WITH BSNL and not with any other provider. Other providers have special amounts which give certain offers so even if i tell them to do a airtel recharge or topup, for them it is the same :S

If that is that case then can't i just recharge for Rs 250 on freecharge.in for my airtel number and avail this GPRS scheme ??

Please anybody clarify

^ Yes that is right, there is no differentiation like TopUp and Recharge for Airtel. So yes, you can just recharge through freecharge.in and avail the scheme. :)

airtelgprs.com is the APN name. I assume you have enabled the mobile office 98 rupees plan.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Something more....

Go to Settings -> wireless and network -> mobile networks -> GSM/UMTS options -> Access point names and by pressing the menu button, create the new settings.

Ideally after inserting the card, the settings should have had automatically come.

Guys I had the 200 bucks 3G plan last month and I got 250 MB data limit. Its pretty good, very very fast. I'm going to take the 100 (125 mb) rs plan this month 'cos my usage isn't a lot (maps and IMAP mail and twitter)

What is the difference between GPRS and 3G other than the obvious speed difference? In 3G, I keep it always on for 24x7 mail, twitter synchronisation. Is that possible in GPRS? Can I keep it 'always on'?

And what would you guys recommend? 98 bucks GPRS plan or the 3G plans?

^^ Thanks for the input but can you be more specific?
APN - airtelgprs.com
what about the rest of fields?

^^Just put the Name as something like "Airtel Mobile office" or whatever you like.

Under APN, put airtelgprs.com and save the settings and select it. (tap the radio button corresponding to the new APN).

Ignore all other fields.

You GPRS is now ready to use.

I am in Mumbai on Prepaid Airtel and these settings were auto installed after putting the sim...

I am on SS RLS5 for blade and do not see the settings which were defaulted after putting the SIM. I just get ********* in all the fields but the setting is there, that i know.
