Hello everyone,

I recently got a new Airtel broad band connection. ( I had it earlier but moved to a a new area few months back , so there was a blackout period)

I noticed that the user id is not with fixed line number, which used to be the case earlier. Is this okey?

And the modem password is set by the technician. but CC says cannot be changed. Is this so?

If I can change the password, I think I need to change in Airtel server side. How to do this? I know how to change in my modem.

The new cable has 4 wires. Two of them (colored) he connected to the telephone and the other pair (white) to modem. Is this new type of connection from Airtel? Earlier they used to connect the same pair splitted.

Regards,

Anand (Bangalore)

Current password i know . If i ask cc they will reset to some default. But, how can i change it myself? Not inthe modem, in the airtel side?

Hmm. So you were implying all these time that you wanted to change the password set by Airtel for your broadband connection. That, I am afraid, cannot be done. They give you a password and you are stuck with it. With other ISPs, you have the option to set the account password manually.

By the way, you havent mentioned the make / model number of your modem. I am interested in knowing more about this new type of connections given away by Airtel.

Thats not a good news. Earlier, i used to change password of airtel. They had an option in an url kk.airtel.in. Similar to that.

I use an old bsnl modem utstarcom.

The password reset url is not working now. What iam looking for is there any new link for doing this from customer side.

If this is the new policy then i am afraid this can be misused.

Somebody can get the username and password easily from the telephone bill airtel send to the customer !

1) Visit https://ebpp.airtelworld.com/cares/wps/myportal

2) Register your account if not done already

3) Login with registered Loginid and password from above step.

4) Click on the ‘change password’ option from left panel.

5) You should enter the old and the new password

6) Re enter the password to confirm it.

7) After the verification, note down the password or remember it.

8) Now enter the password in the ADSL modem.

^^ How can changing the password of the usage portal alter the original password set up by Airtel to autheticate your connection with the BRAS?

This is only for the Airtel World(epayment) portal. Not for modem pasword!!

The dsl username and passwords are linked to particular telephone number and can't be used by others.

@Striker10 : I thought it was for DSL password.

After calling few times, Airtel CC has given a ip to download a free app and change the password.

I forgot the Ip though, :-) . they said its linked with my DSL line,

Anand
