@dinjo,

I use torrents, links like rapidshare, hotfile, megaupload, depositfile, upoading.to .Use limewire generally and also the client to download torrents.

@ultra_virus,

You can understand the Hijack log and tell em what to do.Theer are a couple of other international forums which ahve helped me clean up my system with HJ log.But my post did't get even one reply when I reported of possible trojans a month ago.

Speaking of trojans and malwares.My AVG 9.0 Antivirus and Internet Securty doesn't show any infection or has atleast elimimated them when I installed it and scanned the computer.

Use Avira and SpyBot Search , also whats your download speed using browser ? Also need pingtest results

I am not so comfortable with AVG guarding my system, i prefer kaspersky for my system, you can probably look at av-comparisons.com and find the one that suits your need. AFAIK Hijack is concerned you can post it here as an attachment.

well.. if I download a file through say megaupload or even say from microsoft website, the downlaod speed is around 40-50 KBps instead of ~60 KBps.

Though the number os seeders is good for a torrent, I could download only around 100MB at a speed of 24KBps at 10:30 PM though I am supposed to get 120 KBps(1 MBps connection after hours)

OT : smiley noob..where the **** u've beeeennn :O i thought u r dead ! back in cs huh ? i was for some days before and even have a server from joister not sure i've renewed it yet :P

i take my comments back on you, but u r still a biatch

lol @ raghav.. i was in bangalore dude serving my time in Accenture :P will ping u my new number get in touch..

@Raptor pls do post HiJack log so we can be sure that there are no malware/trojan

@ultra_virus

sure thing man.

I hope you dont hijack my thread to start discussing girlfriend problems with coolraghav :P

Also to add some more information, the Airtel engineer restarted my system in he safe mode.Internet could not be accessed even then.
Is it true that that no matter what...if the internet connection is established, Safe mode should show the connectivity through browser, even if it did not while working normally?

changed the settings

Ip - 192.168.1.2

gateway - 192.168.1.1

preferred dns - 8.8.8.8

alternate - 8.8.4.4

No difference.Internet is still the same.Bad!

here's the HJlog

I have had this problem since two weeks (from Bangalore). I thought i was the only one :@

Here is what happened:

1st complain call to Airtel:
Me: I am having from problems with websites not opening and opening with only text and no images
Airtel Guy: Sir please update PC, install different browser, clean system, restart modem... blah blah
Me: Tried all that does not help. Send Technician
Airtel Technician 1: Messes with DNS and MTU settings for 45 mins. Calls his boss and tells the sites not responding. He tells yes there seems to be some server issue at our end and that they have fixed it.
Works correctly for a day. The next day back to square one

2nd complain call to Airtel after 4 days:
Me: Website not working correctly. I have done all the regular methods send technician.
Airtel Technician 1 (Same Guy as before): Comes this time messes with the modem. Sir, modem in very congested place, getting heated very much + it is always ON, thats why slow browsing. Also tells maybe modem damaged so replaces it.
Could not verify if it works correctly as I am at office and my wife tells that some sites are opening correctly now.
Sites stop working in the evening. Call the technician directly as I had his number.
Me: You told modem in congested place + always ON, so I shifted to better place + it has been off since 3 hours.
Airtel Technician 1: Sir undersea cable problem
Me: That is supposed to have been fixed 2 weeks back
Airtel Technician 1: It is but all traffic routed through one server only. Wait for 3-4 days

3rd complain call to Airtel after 2 days:
Me: Websites not working correctly. I have done all the regular methods send technician but some one senior this time.
Airtel Guy: Ok
Airtel Technician 2: Can I try our landline and check if it is working correctly.
Me: Ok
Airtel Technician 2: Disturbance in line maybe cabling has gone. Retags the cables at the junction box. Problem still persists. He then tells me that maybe the internal cabling has gone inside the house and wants to replace that.
Me: Are you sure you know what you are doing.
Airtel Technician 2: Yes. (but hesitantly) don’t want to screw some other cabling in the house
Me: No before you do anything I want to speak to your superior.
Airtel Technician 2: Calls him and gives me the phone. Turns out that his superior is Airtel Technician 1 :huh:.
Airtel Technician 1: Wait for 3-4 days problem will be fixed
Me: Screw it will wait and see or escalate

Then last evening I get the message from Airtel: Maintenance of undersea cable between 23-27. All steps taken to optimize browsing.

So my advice would be to wait and watch. Dont change browsers, you can mess with the DNS and MTu settings from now but don’t think it will help

I've got the exact same problem at my place(Bangalore). Browsing is just so pathetic.. downloads are close to max speed(1mbps).. i got the undersea cable service message y'day at night.. so hopefully we get back speeds in a few days.. :\

@sn4k382,
Changed the DNS to google's DNS on Fri night.browsing and downloading has been normal since yesterday.But I am sure this problem will recur after a day or two.

The pathetic speed is back again.
any of you could deduce from the Hijack log that I posted before?Would appreciate it if someone does.

i got a message a few days back ... maybe it was last week that they are doing some maintanance work in the meditarenean and that speeds would be affected and i also been facing the same eratic browsing speed ... downloads doesnt seem to be affected.

Update:The Airtel engineer claims it's either the OS(read malware) or the modem.He thinks the modem(Dlink GLB-502T) is hanging up.Since it starts fine when we restart it.

Could that be the problem?Will upgrading the firmware and getting it serviced help?
