lol....guys, this is happening because of the modem.

Happens to be also..... I guarantee you, it is the modem.

See if the ADSL light on the modem is blinking..... It is usually off when this happens....

Nope  all the four LED's were on during this hang up.... In my case its the Kaspersky AV6 Auto update.... Log files showed update error then network freezes... No freeze after I switched to manuel update... must be with the download location or this particular version of Kaspersky I am using....

guys....
You know the main problem is with the modem/router you got.
In india the routers are not specifically designed for heavy uploads as well as downloads.
Some of them can withstand that pressure but as they get old they will also show these kind of errors.
The only solution to MINIMIZE this problem is keep you upload speeds low (10-15).
I know this does.n sounds good for a bit torrent network, but to counter this you can devote one or two day just for uploading at its maximum speed so you'll not become a leecher.

@siddarth : its a machine not human .. and the modem that airtel gives u has a BRoadcom chipset inside it and it as good as it gets with anyother maker .. so use the modem to its full capacity :P

Hey, I face the same problem with the airtel BB 256KBps connection too....I use utorrent for downloading torrents...Initially when I switch on the download, the port forwarding test passes and utorrent reports that the port is open.....But when i open it in the morning, the port is blocked....really strange and I dont know at what time it happens.....I have also used azureus and the same thing happens there also.....And I dont use any anti-virus...only windows firewall. I sometimes see the modem restarting manually....why does it happen?? All these things are happening only recently...say in the last 1 month....Please help me...
