Airtel DTH subscription available now

raksrules

Northstar
I am not sure whether this is applicable for all or not. But people from Airtel had setup a counter in my office today to showcase their DTH service. Its is priced at Rs. 2500 which includes installation and 3 months subscription.
After that, the subscription rates are Rs. 250 per month for all the channels.

There are some other small bouquets also. They said this price is only for our company employees. Not sure about it.

^
Really..and its costly too.more than most competitors in the market..
So they're like looting you while they get beta feedback..

I am sure it beats the others in quality though. It better be - I've been holding out on DTH by staying on Hathway CAS for 2 years now, waiting for this darn service to launch!!!

Quality is quite good. In our office they have 2-3 LCDs as well showing the quality. Its nthing spl , same as BIG MPEG4 with shitty inherent 576i signal :P

well airtel has even less transponders then big tv so it will be more compressed.

I would say better wait for Airtel IPTV which is round the corner.

coz there wont be much difference in features b/n the various DTH service providers.

IPTV services are quite promising

well reliance IPTV is a better choice since they already provide HD stb with HDMI and people who have xbox 360 can use it as a STB.

I am waiting for the channels to announce their HD strategy and pricing. I guess it will expensive, but atleast we can get a heads up which provider is taking the initiative so that we can go for that service right now.

I have experience the service and have a connection now at home. The transmission is good and is not so much prone to weather interference like TATASky [Which is the primary connection in my house] although the add-on services are not launched [Similar to Active in TATASky] Installation was pretty painful as the engineers were experimenting [Their first live field installation] and as a result I have a large number of nail holes in my house. Activating the service was a much bigger issue as I was provided with a faulty STB which didn't work and as a result replacement and activation took another 2 weeks.

Currently there are only two packages with the usual sports channels offered as add-on packages. This is currently offered in all cities and towns where Airtel has a Broadband presence.
