Bharti Airtel, India’s leading telecom carrier has partnered with Verizon Digital Media Services to launch new points of presence (PoPs) in Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and New Delhi, allowing the latter to further expand into the market. The partnership will provide users in India with faster and reliable access of content on the Verizon Digital Media Services platform, an official statement said.

Leveraging Airtel’s digital infrastructure as a gateway to India, along with data center services and network, Verizon Digital Media Services said that it will allow the company to provide superior digital media experiences to millions of internet users in India.

“India is fast emerging as a large regional IP Hub and we are excited to enable Verizon Digital Media Services to provide best-in-class digital services in India. This collaboration ensures superior user experiences and seamlessly handles traffic spikes as connected devices, subscribers and content size continue to grow,” Ajay Chitkara, Director & CEO-Global Voice & Data Business, Bharti Airtel, said in a joint statement.

“We are delighted by the positive results seen in a very short time and we are confident that in the long term, Indian mobile Internet users are going to immensely benefit from this partnership,” Chitkara said.

The newly installed PoPs have already yielded exceptional outcomes. Using third-party Cedexis measurement tools, Verizon Digital Media Services said that it has observed significant network improvements when comparing its network performance in India before and after the PoP installations.

The amount of time required on Verizon Digital Media Services’ servers to receive users’ requests, respond and deliver results has significantly decreased.

“We are expanding our content delivery network in strategic markets that our customers care about, and we have found a long-term partner in Airtel Business,” said Rob Peters, Chief Technology Officer, Verizon Digital Media Services.

“The launch of these strategic PoPs marks the beginning of a strong partnership between Verizon and Airtel Business and further cements our commitment to providing consumers in India,” Peters said.

Oh, great. Now that Verizon has bought Yahoo this probably means better and faster delivery of advertisements in your face. :-/[DOUBLEPOST=1470191299][/DOUBLEPOST]So what's this digital media content here?

Yeah, I meant what specifically they offer? Like names of movies/tv shows - anything unique/common to others?

Right now they allow only on their Wynk apps.
Wynk movies for English and Hindi movies and Wynk music for music. I don't know if there's anything unique wrt others.

never heard of verizon 'content'.

Notice how the article is completely devoid of what this means for the average user. Basically a tie up with just one provider.

people want google music, spotify, netflix etc.
