I am going to buy a 40" lcd (either Samsung 40B650 or Sony 40V550 or LG 42LH50) in coming weeks. Currently i'm having a cable connection for my tv viewing.

I'm attracted to airtel iptv services (leaving behind channel change delay problem). So, basically i'm worried about how it will look on a 40" LCD compared to Airtel DTH/Tata Sky. I've searched for it alot but can't find anything about it. Even any dealer doesn't keep iptv for testing/reviewing.

What do you people say about Airtel IPTV oicture quality on this bigger screen than usual?

Dont get bothered about IPTV or DTH. Anyways they both are directing u SD quality in MPEG4 which is crap anyway, so you gotta live with that.

Thanks

yeah, i know that both are sd, but what i want to know is quality difference between both (which though may be marginal).. Is there difference in video compression method(codec), bitrate etc in both which may produce the PQ difference? If yes or no, what is the difference, anyway?

PQ and content for both are same but the medium is different. DTH uses satellite signals whereas IPTV uses broadband connection to transfer the content. Airtel seems to have decent fast broadband bandwidth and network.
Like during rain, DTH signals get interupted for a few min. or so , the overloading of bandwidth of the broadband connection will lower/interrupt the content quality to an extent. IMO, these are temporary issue faced very few times in a year. So not to bother much.
If your broadband usage at home is decent, IPTV is more value for money than DTH. Also IPTV offers more features currently than DTH.
