Airtel has launched very-high-speed digital subscriber line (VDSL) broadband plans in Hyderabad which offers 40MBps speeds.
Currently there are two monthly plans for VDSL subscribers. The Ultrasonic 3999 plan has 200GB data cap and gives 2,000 voice minutes free. The Ultrasonic 3299 plan has 100GB data usage and 1,000 free voice minutes.
While announcing the new plans , Sharlin Thayil, CEO - Andhra Pradesh, Bharti Airtel said.
“We are delighted to introduce 40 Mbps speed – the fastest wireline broadband service on next generation VDSL technology. The all new Ultrasonic 40Mbps plans on Airtel offers the fastest Broadband speed available for customers and will allow data savvy customers to upgrade from the now prevalent 16Mbps speeds they have enjoyed thus far. This plan will allow customers the convenience to download movies in a few minutes, stream high definition videos, online multiplayer gaming, download rich content, upload photos and videos instantly and lots more.”
However, the plans seem to be terrible thanks to the data cap of 100GB / 200GB , users would run out of the usage limit within hours while downloading at those data speeds. The speeds after the limit is exhausted is not known but we expect it to be 512Kbps .
