As you may be knowing, Airtel BB uses dialup connection(ADSL) for connecting to internet. For logging in, i first have to disable and then re-enable my local area connection, and then login using the dialup uid and password. Even if the local area connection is enabled at startup, i have to disable it first and re-enable it, for the dialup connection to successefuly login.
Is there anyway to overcome it? Do anyone of you face the same problem of disabling and enabling the Local area connection ?

No, I switch On the modem, wait for 15seconds and start dialing and it connects... i never disable and enable the LAN...

Same here just that i have to wait for 2 minutes

When my modem's "adsl" and "lan" lights stop blinking i connect

I dont think you are getting my question correctly.

Consider this scenario:

PC is OFF, Modem is ON, LAN was enabled in last Windows run. Now i switch ON the PC, Windows opens. LAN is ON, so is the modem. I double click on Dialup connection icon, enter the user id and password, and click on connect. And, nothing happens. I disable the LAN. Re-enable it. Now i again try to connect the dialup connection. It works.

So my question was is there any way, so that in the above scenario, i dont have to do the disable-enable part of LAN and i can connect just using the dialup connection (provided LAN was already enabled)

I hope i am clear?!

I get your question now but when i had a USB modem then this same thing applied to me too.I had to disconnect the USB cable from either the modem itself or from the USB port of my PC and then reconnect it.

But when i bought an Ethernet modem, the problem doesnt occur.

So i dunno of a solution for this problem...

its just that ur modem isnt using the dhcp server properly...

try this... force the lan to a fixed ip like 192.168.1.2.. and do all the other stuff i guess u know all the stuff .. if not just ask and u`ll get step by step instructions.

this should solve the ip problem and it should eliminate the need to do the lan step that u r forced to do now...

well... no... wat u shud do is .. open 192.168.1.1 in ur browser and click WAN

then after remove any entries ovaa there

VPI - 1

VCI - 32

click next

then choose pppoe over ethernet

then NEXT

then put down ur username and password there and choose auto...click next 2 times and click save and then reboot the router nd u r done

if still its not done.. then right click on ur LAN icon and choose properties and choose assign the IP

ip address : 192.168.1.56

subnet mask : 255.255.255.0

default gateway : 192.168.1.1

DNS ( assign) : 202.56.215.6

secondry : 202.56.230.6

DONE..!!!
