Airtel now counts Download + Upload in FUP Calculation?

I have airtel connection of 1mbps with 15gb limit, from last one year.

Usually i hit the limit on 20th - 25th day.

From last two months I was getting hit the 15gb withing first weeks and it was shocking. So I download a tracking s/w and wanted to see what is going on !!

Now i noticed that they are counting Download + Upload as the limit of data transferred , as opposed to Download , as it was earlier. Anyone facing this problem ?

Coincidentally I also re allocated to a new place and this has been happening after the reallocation !!

Can there be any connection ??

I'm from bangalore Btw !

It's a wired connection, so I doubt about data stealing !

I am getting this thing disconnected as soon as I get Act Broadband!!

They have always counted both ways traffic for FUP. Reason why I stopped seeding torrents long back. Then for the greater good of humanity, to continue seeding, I kicked out Airtel. Been happy since.

WTF!! seriously...so I was lucky all this time( 10 months) to have only download counted in FUP !! :O :shocked:

AFAIK, MTNL does not count upload at all, but their upload speeds are low as well.
Airtel is well, airtel, they are evil :evil:

Yet another Failtel issue. IMO, no wonder they are making money off us.

The day they started fup it was for me like this fup=download + upload. so nothing new for me because it always was like this. bad luck for u it might have now implemented for u

Always thought throughput contention of data was always UL+DL. Airtel gracefully gave us the bitterness of FUP, sprinkled with the sweetness -- "TRAI mandate" and we all swallowed it.

Nothing novel here.

Switch to MTNL for FUP free unlimited broadband bliss. Seriously, if you have an option to opt for MTNL/BSNL, sticking to other FUP based private operators is the dumbest thing you could ever do. I switched from Airtel to MTNL as soon as Airtel started FUPing me and I haven't looked back since. Enjoying 2mbps unlimited at 1800 bucks.

Umm they were doing it all wrong before. Proper calculation is DL + UL. Of course that sucks either ways!

well, I would add another of my most recent(yesterday) FAILTEL stories.

Notice my SMS pack(30 day validity, or so they say) recharge patterns(forced upon me) for the last 3 months(due to the pack getting expired):

- 22nd September

- 22nd October

- 16th November

- 8th December

Is it me or the SMS pack just lost 1 week?

Needless to say, I didn't even bother complaining to them this time.

^What is an SMS pack?

It's been a year or two that I paid for a monthly dose of free SMSes. Almost everything now is free.

fwict all new bsnl plans have fup too so they are no better... the ones without fup are only there for existing users on those plans.

on second thought maybe failtel is giving high command ul broadband with no fup so his quite:ohyeah:
 
Airtel always counted Uploads,:( i never seed torrents during FUP, when i exceed my FUP then start seeding the torrents till the end of the month.:D
 
F**K Airtel..

My BB disconnects every 10 min and speed lasts 1 day at max. After that FUP.. Its just S**t

I am soon Shifting to Beam Broadband in Hyderabad.. :P
