Airtel or ACT

I already have an Airtel broadband connection which runs perfectly fine. I get 1 mpbs in the day and 2 mbps in the night at the cost of 1.6k, but guess what? i dont have an FUP. So in that case I really like what I have as what I download in a week doesn't cross 5 gig per week. I dont download more like full blue ray rips due to HD space and the fear of conking an old desktop.

Now is the catch. The new company I joined pays for my broadband bill going to upto even 2k or 3k per month. So I am tempted to get a much faster connection like ACT which gives me 25mps speed but at an FUP of 80gb to 100gb depending upon the plan.

So what do you guys think? I can change my current Airtel plan to an 8MBPS connection too but I lose out on the no limit download perk. And I know thats a big perk.

If you find that 1 mbps is good enough for basic browsing activities (it probably is), and since you can probably stream YouTube videos at 480p, I think you will be just fine with your existing connection.

Perks of getting a 25 mbps connection would be 1080p YouTube streaming (and even 4K YouTube streaming). You can also stream Netflix and TV shows as well. As long as you don't do a lot of it, I think you should be able to stay within the FUP limit.

So what do you do on the internet? If you stream a lot of videos, go with the ACT broadband. Otherwise, if you are just okay with 480p YouTube and reasonably fast browsing, I think your Airtel connection should suffice.

yeah.. but I am still paying reasonably higher with Airtel. How is the customer support with ACT? Another thread at TE claims that ACT secretly limits torrent speed.

I've been an Airtel customer for more than 7 years. No headaches with service outage other than probably once in 6 months. Complaints are taken up on priority and usually the service person visits the premises within 6-12 hours.

You do pay a higher price compared to the rest. If the difference in price is 10-20%, stick with Airtel since you already have a connection. If you want higher speeds then cable internet is the way to go.

Why don't you upgrade to a better Airtel plan if your company is going to boot the bill?
Like indy mentioned, their CC is good, and hassle-free.

that will change the plan and I/my brother no more will be able to stream movies and videos like we do now without any tension. Airtel is at loggerheads to get me to change the plan since 2 years But I flatly refuse everytime.
The ultimate problem actually is that after FUP, the speed straightaway comes down to 512 kbps in both ISPs. If it was 1 MBPS after FUP, I wouldn't even have created this thread. Anyways.. I think I'll just have to make a call or go with the highest ACT plan which has 1MPBS download after FUP. It costs 3k.[DOUBLEPOST=1398675172][/DOUBLEPOST]Such a tiny thing and it's confusing me. Internet, bah!!
