Had an issue with my Explore 1099 ( 384kbps day / 1Mbps night) connection last night. Speeds usually change to 1Mbps after 10pm everyday but yesterday it didn't... I called CC & told them. They went through all that routine remove temp files deletion & DNS settings for network connection.

Even after that the speed was not 1Mbps but what I normally get during daytime. So they told me there was another under sea-cable cut last week which may had caused the problem. Now I tried google & nothing came up which would suggested or blame any recent cable cuts. :@

The speeds were normal till a day before & its highly unlikely that a cable cut 7-10 days ago had caused speed drop after a week. In the end I was given a complaint no. & told it will be rectified next day but I think its a nice excuse over other generic ones that AIRTEL keeps giving if there is any problem.. :P

This might be due to their updating 512kbps and lesser plans to double the amount. I have the 384kbps plan and from yesterday its 512 :(. Maybe they missed out the 384kbps guys.....

That offer was not applicable on dual speed plans but only on fixed speed plans. Also even if they decide to increase it for dual plans then only daytime speed would be upgraded to 512kbps but even my daytime speeds are not increased. Right now I am getting my usual 384kbps like yesterday.

There is something wrong at their end but they are giving useless excuses instead of pinpointing the problem..

i'm on the 512/day and 1mps/night plan, since two days i've had the same speed-512 for day and night....going to call them later to check whats wrong....

I also have an Airtel connection (1 Mbps ultd) in Bombay but mine seems to be working fine, though I have noted some intermittent disconnections for the past couple of days, but overall fine. Though, I did find a link for the news story referring to the undersea cable cut.

I am having the same issue since last 2 days. It's not throttling the speed to 1Mbps during night. 2 days of download down the drain and I have so much to download now. :(

i received an sms from them informing me that i might experience low speeds due to undersea cuts. My dl speeds on files is still at 250 kb/s but my speeds on video streaming sites like youtube has dropped drastically... Cant watch without buffering. Funny thing is i dont experience this at the office where the connection is only 1 mbps.

Yesterday my net (Reliance wired BB ) was not working partially in the evening around 6. I was being able to download torrents and play on steam but not browse any website.

I rang up CC and the first automated message was that there is some issue with the servers all over India and it will be up and running by 9. It started working after around 9:30. Apparently there was some major issue. All seems okay now though.

Yesterday i called their CC to get my plan upgraded to 1 mbps UL the automated message told me about the undersea cable cut and menus in the 121 line was not working for sometime, later i was able to speak to CC and i also asked about **** u policy on FREEDOM 1699 plan the guy said its capped at 100GB and i asked the guy then why is airtel advertising the plan as UL that too with a plan name "Freedom" ? the guy said its only because of TRAI they had to do this :(.

For me the undersea cable did not affect my torrenting but in COD4 i was exp. high pings.

I've been having problems with my Airtel Broadband 384 kbps connection since Monday. The connection was intermittent i.e. web pages would load sometimes and then the link would fail. The link would restore itself after some time.

I called up customer care who sent a guy over. The guy claimed that I use USB instead of Ethernet and that is the problem. I told him that I've been using it for 4 years now without issues and that he had told me the same gibberish last time.

He then diagnosed that my modem firmware was very old and upgraded the modem. After the upgrade, the connection seemed to work alright but I faced the same issue after some time.

When I tried yesterday, I did not faced any issue. I'm quite confused as to what the problem could be. Maybe a combination of network upgrade and/or modem firmware?
