This is what going on in my end: i have Swift 1099 Plan from airtel. The provison of this Airtel service is entrusted to this company "AVM TELECOM" in my area .Lately, every 2-3 weeks the DSL light in my modem goes off every 10-15 mins ie frequent disconnection and the phone went dead each time this happened.Today it started all over again with the phone not working but the Internet is working but it goes off every 10-15 mins :S.So called AVM telecom they say my modem is old technology wont handle 512 Kb/sec:no:.Btw i am using the same modem for over a year any idea why this is happening:huh:.

I heard UT300R2U can handle upto 20MB/sec is this true??

Lol ADSL 2+ capable modem supports speeds upto 24Mb/sec(512K/sec is like 1/50th of the theoretical max speed provided by the adsl2 standard) .So, the AVM TELECOM guys are just fooling you. Tell them to check the line for any faults

lol, scammers

i have the same router, for bsnl & i get 64KBps solid speed.

tell them to first check the phone line.
if they reply in same way, call airtel & tell them your scenario.

I am using this same modem for 512kb/s UL. At first there were some issues like yours. Since I'm using BSNL, their "Experts" came and blamed the Modem(Ironically supplied by them only). Replaced it, nothing got better finally told me that there are some noise in the line and got disappeared like anything. But with the help of one friends we rechecked everything and did port forwarding in the modem and DNS Setting like this: Now it ROCKS:hap2:

Hi,

I checked your line stats. upstream SNR is not good. SNR margin should be above 10 on both sides to maintain a connection . if it goes below that, it should indicate line problem. tell your ISP to fully check your line.

Meanwhile, Please try and change Line Modulation from ADSL 2+ to G.DMT. G.DMT is quite tolerant to noise. the option should be somewhere in "Advanced Setup" .

Hi, I face the same problem with BSNL "EXPERTS". The DSL light goes on and off and I have been facing this problem for the past one month. Sometimes I am able to connect for a long time, but during the free hours 2.00 am to 8.00 am the connection is intermittent. They have connected the modem in Bridge mode now, but the problem persits. Atttenuation uptream is 0.0 and SNR value downstream is 9.0. What is wrong?

your line most problally. register a complaint against "Line problem" with BSNL. also try to use an anternate modem to be sure:)

i have ut300r2u too on bsnl and get full 512kbps speed. the modem reports max supported/possible speed nearing 8 mbps (based on my line quality) :)

now here's an interesting story: i used to have huawei mt800 modem since jan 2005. about a year or two ago, i also started getting slow speeds and frequent disconnection. yelled a lot at the bsnl morons to get my line checked which they did but to no avail and i thought they were making false claims that they checked my line. then finally they themselves came to my place and tried this new modem and VOILA! the problems went away. i never thought it could be the modem since it seemed to be operating normally.

moral of the story: in addition to getting your line checked first. also ask the isp guys to get a temporary new modem to check whether the device (also check the splitter box) is working fine or not - especially if its more than a year or two old.

annoying how these ****ers say anything to save their own asses. an airtel "technical person" once told me that my modem lights were going off because of a virus on my computer.
