For people reporting double (or lack of) speed issue after 11pm, Airtel reps now openly declaring that double speed commitment is now no longer offered, period (as of last month). Those who are still reporting double speeds at night, will soon be reigned in as soon as Airtel is done propagating changes to the account packages on all their nodes. I stopped getting automatic double speed last night (without a modem reboot, Delhi central). Am sure my double speed days are now numbered.

I agrre with nikhil,, airtel promises 256k or whatever pakcage you take why should they offer double speeds for free? there nothing wrong in that airtel is doing..
this is nothing but just some rants by angry people who want everything for free..

If you want 512k then get the new 512k unlitd package :P

Nothing wrong in demanding more for less. We are already paying exhorbitant amounts of cash vs other countries for out of date broadband speeds. But, they are in line with what they offer. On the other hand, paying for their technician's visit, charging for cheque pick up, charging for caller ID(which BSNL offers free) etc. are degrading their service offering. It might be worth considering another ISP for new takers.

^^Sandman...u get 19-20 kBps on 1 256k line & u still support this RIP OFFs.cmon 2k for 512k unlimited, what r they trying to propagate.Even TATA is cheaper than them nw  Airtel's mobile service was always a rip off & they r nw just propagating that to Airtel Broadband/landline. Cmon Bharti group is more interested in retail chains now more than mobile/broadband :P

Well we live in India! everything is overpriced here for the salary we get!
Cars, bikes, PC parts you name it and everything is way too much :P and really crappy quality compared to what you would get somewhere else.
you cant blame the ISP companies for that. Airtel 256k for 999 is really the best del you can get, I do agree that the 512k utld is a bit overpriced.

:P yeah I do get only 22-25KB on average, but I at least people using airtel face minimal or 0 downtime :P
look I dont need to download everything there is on the internet. I need reliability and great customer support, which airtel does give me. I dont see the point in getting another 5-6KB extra and then facing 1-2 days downtime in a month. I do work a lot from home so yes I want reasonable speed with uptime rather than speed and downtime :bleh:

Well Maybe they are trying to collect and Pool in their Bandwidth to release a plan to compete with BSNL's 8 MBPS connection ... oh yeah .. there is a strong possibility ..

but i blame BHARTI only for their other stupid acts..

I hv seen numerous ppl getting fake connections and wen the time is round the corner to payup .. ppl simply say that the person who took the connection is not here anymore..

Then they ll take up another connection..

Airtel Guys bribed the officials in my sector to lay the cables ..

All these expenses do add up .. and wid more lucrative schemes in BBand and mobile phone services.. ppl at Bharti wd have def seen a quantum dip in their revenues..

Nite Double is something this idiots can easily provide.. cuz ppl online are less.. and i think BSNL buys bandwidth from Airtel ppl if they hv a shortage..

Its jst that prolly they screwed up major somewhere and now as per the thread starter's report.. they gonna terminate Nite 2x Speeds..

End Result : Stupid Policy from the leaders of the Telecom in the country..

Well turning off double speed is understandable from the Business point of view seeing that they have a 512UL plan now, but charging for CC visit, thats absurd, a fault in their telephone line is not my problem, its thiers...

Ofcourse if they are chanrging for technical support for the *PC problems* of net not working, go rite ahead...they dont know as much as we do anyways ;)

But charging for just coming to your place to check out say a frequent disconection problem, which BTW was a faulty line at their end...that would suck...

^^ all of you would see that thing mentioned in your coming bill.
its on the front page and written rite next to that tambola ticket thing :|
