It's not about whether the OP maybe not so strong financially or can handle a loss or not.
This is a problem not only for the OP but for all as any one of us can be a potential victim someday- we cannot be too sure these days.
So let's try and track this guy down, with an open mind and without any animosity for his irresponsible behaviour and make him make amends. :)

And once again, really appreciate everyone's concern, involvement and efforts. :hug:
 
TBH, the dude seems to be all over the internet. I don't somehow think he did this with fraud in mind.

The OP seems to be not fuming yet as many would and is taking it as his own misfortune.

He has started a thread to get the seller to notice it and respond.

But it's rather difficult to not doubt akhilfxavier considering he logs into TE often but does not respond to PMs sent to him nor answers calls to the cell nos he porvided. :(
 
had pmed the OP with his another phone number from teambhp ...lets see if he called it or anything ...
 
his IPs are from 3 different cities. Cochi, Bangalore and Coimbatore.

For a while, my IP in Mumbai was either in Surat or Mumbai depending on the IP assigned to me when I logged in. This was with You Telecom, which was HQed in Surat at the time and had some of their IPs registered there.

If all the IPs came from the same ISP then it's probably the same connection.

Or a Cyber-cafe.

^^Very true. Tracking an IP will not yield accurate results.

I would say Pm'ng or calling him will not yield any results as he's 100% avoiding us.

Just call the College Principal & tell him that this guy is suspected of making this fraud in TE & give him the details. OR if somebody from TE is studying there ask them to confront the guy.
 
Look, most of the things are useless unless OP decides to file a formal complaint about him with authorities.

And that college details are uselss as well as that is Sem 7 list from July 2008. so he must have passed out of that college by now.

The cell number ( even if its disconnected or switched off ) is the most important piece of information OP has as it is tied to name and address somewhere.

I just hope this guy comes to his senses and complete the deal or refund OP his money.

Nah, different ISPs as well, Reliance, Tata.

@shripad - Oops. Didn't see that date. Shouldn't a simple police complaint do the job ? The cops can get his info from the mobile no., college details & the bank details.

He organized the L4D2 tourney. I have even talked to him on Skype once.

THe tourney is over months ago but we still haven't received our prize money .

Even his friends were feeling cheated for the same.

Will ask him about this matter when he comes online on steam. [ yeah he is in my steam friends]
 
op dont worry he can run but cannot hide.

the money u deposited is under nobin thomas.just did a simple google search.

it seems nobin thomas is listed in facebook.so u can contact him and see.

second option is you can shoot a mail to catholic syrian bank saying that you have been defrauded.u can give the account no and talk to them politely before u take any legal action.the guy must be an idiot to defraud a tech guy.

third option is contact the college and ask for his contact details.do not tell the reason.just that you want to contact him.

as a member here has got his relative studying there it should not be too difficult.maybe some juniors do know him.if we can get his house address then tracking him will be so much easier.hell even a land line number will do.can do a directory search.

keep us updated on the thread.

will rack my brains to see if i can come up with some scheme.

It should be easy contacting the college saying you're calling from a company & you want that guy's info for some project.

tried contacting him on steam. no reply.

what happened in the tournament?

edit - he just replied back. seems to be a misunderstanding. i've asked him to post here or get in touch with the op :)
