Alcatel is launching their new smartphone dubbed the Alcatel One Touch Idol X. This 5 incher packs a 1080p (1920 x 1080) pixels resolution display in addition to the new Mediatek quad core chipset that it carries within. Also, this is one of the few (only 2) smartphones to launch with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean apart from Google's Nexus 4 itself.

The One Touch Idol X is a sexy smartphone. It looks good, really good. A 7.1 mm thin profile demanded a smaller battery, which is limited to 2,000 mAh. The display is particularly good, and I quote GSMArena in what they found:

"The Idol X’s display sports almost perfect viewing angles. Its contrast is also noticeably better than what the Sony Xperia Z showed us."

Comparing the display to the one on the Xperia Z gives loads of credit to Alcatel for choosing an excellent display. Also, this is one of the very few smartphones to launch with Android 4.2.1 (albeit lightly skinned) apart from Google's own products. Another win for Alcatel. Now we just need a quick global launch and some decent pricing.
