Alienware M17 R3 buying help needed!!

hey guys,
after my disappointing search for gaming laptops in India(in my 75k budget),
i finally thought of ordering it from US and getting it though some relative.
and its just barely out of my budget after some discount.

so im quite fixated for the alienware M17 R3 bit customized(base model with FHD screen and 6990M GPU)
specs are:

Processor
Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM 2.0GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)

Operating System
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit

Memory
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz (2DIMMS)

Video Card
2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6990M

Hard Drive
500GB 7,200RPM HDD

Display Panel
17.3-inch WideFHD 1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED

Optical Drives
Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
so the problem is i am reading lot of bad reviews about alienware laptops.
and since the same customized model is not sold in India so i doubt the service support will be able to repair/replace if something goes wrong with the system.
go wrong in sense - manufacture defects.

and once its here i don't think so i can send it back to US again if any problem arises,
not to mention the fact i would be screwed.

so i am currently in a fix.
kindly pitch in with your thoughts and insights.

p.s - yes i know its bulky and heavy more like desktop replacement but i can still carry it with me,
dont wanna buy a desktop.
 
Go for the next business day warranty...As i have spoken to dell sales regarding the warranty of dell xps 14 boought from us. they did not provide me with warranty, as it had some normal warranty which applied to us only..

So, for the warranty to be global, u have to opt next bussiness day warranty..Also, please confirm it with the dell india service Coz dell people, they can change their terms overnight...
 
The latest revision of the m17x is free from all the defects,also you dont have to worry as by default all alienware laptops come with NBD warranty so you are safe anywhere in the world.

You might want to extend it though as you can get extended warranty for a lesser price if you buy it with the laptop itself.

Buying an Alienware is the best decision you have made and you will never regret this.

Build quality is amazing.......

yes i had a chat with the alienware US rep they said the normal warranty which we get the laptop is NBD which is applicable in IN,

then i took a snap shot of it and mailed it to some dell rep in India asking her to explain me the procedure for transferring the warranty here.

but the thing is my frnd in US is also saying the AW got bad service and telling me how he got his motherboard fired twice and got the laptop thrice replaced in span of 2 yrs, and another friend of his is still waiting for his 2nd replacement in 6 months.

they say its got heating issue,

BSoD coz of GPU.

and also what i meant in my previous post was since im not getting the 3D version(which is the only version available in India),

would they be able to procure the spares for it ?

the one i customized got 6990m(and the only one available in IN got 580m).

also from what i get dell IN aint very responsive in terms of service.
