Autocar UK has published the first official pictures of the 2011 Suzuki Swift which is all set to go on sale by the end of the current year.

The new Swift is based on a new platform which sits on a longer wheelbase (+50 mm) and increase the overall length by 90mm. The body is said to be lighter and stiffer while the front and rear tracks are wider by 10mm and 5 mm respectively for even squatter stance aiding stability and handling both.

The stying is evolutionary with the new Swift carrying most of the lines from the current car with subtle changes. The new Swift at launch will come with a new 1.2 liter Dual VVT engine which produces a maximum 92 bhp of power and 87 lb-ft of maximum torque. The new engine delivers an impressive 56.5 mpg, up 7.8 mpg on the earlier 1.3 and CO2 emissions of just 116 g/km, a massive 24 g/km lower when compared to the older engine.

The 1.3 diesel has also been reworked for better efficiency delivering 67.3 mpg and just 109 g/km of CO2 emissions.

We would expect Suzuki to launch the new Swift in India as soon as it is launched internationally which only means one thing – tougher times for everyone else! Watch this space for more.

and its not all new.......its fashion these days to say All new.....same design, same engine, same gear box........useless marketing...its just some facelift..

Brilliant engine. Always wanted to see variable valve timing on cheaper engines in India. And nice thing to do by increasing rear legroom even if its at the cost of a smaller boot.
