Called Operation Site Down, the crackdown involved undercover FBI operations run out of Chicago, San Francisco and Charlotte, N.C., and involved help from authorities in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

Among those arrested was Chirayu Patel of Fremont, Calif., on charges of violating federal copyright protection laws. Patel is alleged to be a member of a “warez†group, a kind of underground Internet co-op that is set up to trade in copyrighted materials.

indian police ko aur koi kaam dhanda nahi kya?????but guys beware of cybercell of mumbai...but fbi directing indian ppl for illegal stuffs is impossible....becoz first they hav to arrest traders who sell cds on roads....and catching them is of no use....

indian police, indian FBI ? No, they have not started their action against p2p.....hell they haven't done anything till now exept checking into some underworld don's e-mail account and catching stupid teenagers who know how to ''use photoshop too well'' if you know what i mean :ohyeah:

in india you're safe, if you're in U.S then you must get peerguardian or there's always a little chance you'll be recorded by some agency.

hey i asked my frnd whether he can get any customer for me...for selling some of my cds(so i can pay my net bills)....he replied...strictly avoid it..... cbi this days r cracking ppl who sell cds.....1 of his frnd was recently jailed...and paid 50k fine........he was selling some new movie cd.......he used to get 300buks....and this guy(cbi 1) promised he will pay 500...........i told i will do only limited thing...wont sell it to cd parlours...jus frnd...he said the guy started all this with same...but after earning mor.......he got greedy and started dealing with video centre....so strictly avoid it(the guy who gav me advice is a freak himself...and was once caught by police..4 hacking webworld to play free games....he got scot free..jus little aplogy letter was signed).......

Hey magnet...stay away from selling warez dude. Its not the CBI but the Economic Offences Wing of local police. Cyber cell is more concerned with sniffing people's mails for dps type stuff heh hehe.

Mostly the cops dont like people selling porn and pirating bollywood stuff...movies and mp3. But sometimes big software cos may direct raids just to stir things up a bit. So far they are not after individual downloaders.

For a hardcore guy it won't matter much because one can earn a lot and have top lawyers defending you. But for straight people, its just not the thing...like frauds and scams e.g. And I beleive its true, with the kind of money involved you'll become a pro warez guy in no time :hap5: .

yup..i jus need a net with 1024kbps speed thats it..........i dont know how i managed to get files through warez......i m genius in that..lol...nyways...i hav decided to stay away frm it.......since if i start that i know i will become a baddie(wont do nything else in life) so ill do stuffs which i want... no selling atlest ..jus s/w downloads to learn and increase my knowledge

is there a chance of the individual downloaders??
well im out of dis kind of stuff, but seriously r they known of dis fact?

well it certainly depends........as far as i know...here in mumbai ppl do sell stuffs(at cst) easily......but when i asked my frnd he told to avoid it...since police r behind this ppl......so conclusion here comes is if u hav a comp and u sell to ppl u shd avoid it.......else ppl who sell on road...dont hav money to pay fine...so they r free to sell...i guess u got my point......and yup still now big companies dont raid on home so far........to check piracy

yes i got the real point
so does dat means theres no problem for the companies to dis stuff of downloading (i mean the individual

well indiviual r mor free i gues.........downloading frm company is mor risky...becoz they r the place which r raided.........but i guess its not that common so far in india......so try your luk......and tak backup and delete the stuffs....

They have been catching music pirates in American Universities for a long time now. That doesn't mean university students buy music, only they disguise their online activites better.
What do you think the average joe American uses his 1.5mbps pipe for?
