Here in Kolkata, Alliance boomed on the Independence day. Here goes the unlimited plan rates:-

160Kbps (320kbps 12am-8am) -> 440/- incl TAX (Using this)

256kbps (512kbps 12am-8am) -> 550/- incl TAX

512kbps (1Mbps 12am-8am) -> 7** /- incl TAX

1Mbps (2Mbps 12am-8am) -> 1050-1100/- incl TAX

Tough competition for the BSNL and AIRTEL I must say. :)

Edit:- complete tariff given by mithun below, sorry for some wron info. :(

New Alliance Plans :

Speeds dont really double up at night and no competition to BSNL night UL plans by any means. A 256kbps zoom pack user will get arnd 400-420kbps speeds(plans say "upto"). Small jesture, but a nice one. The 1mb(Speed pack for 1.5k odd incl taxes) plan is attractive.

@mithun

really?? I get the described 320Kbps between 12-8AM. Otherwise I get 190-200kbps ( where I should have got 160kbps) :ohyeah:

And another trick. login before 8AM and if you don't log out, the double speed remains. :ohyeah: yesterday and today, I logged in at 7.30AM, the speed was ~320Kbps and it remained so until I logged out at 12PM. :D

Be really wary of alliance bb. Back in 2005 i had used them , before the BSNL led bb boom. They offered 56 kbps. Most of the people dont know how kbps are calculated, incl me at that time. They were offering 32 kbps for download + 24 kbps for upload = 56 kbps total !!! When confronted they didnt have any answer, i had ... took BSNL next day with 256 kbps.

Also if you are into gaming and all, it sucks with very high pings.

Pings to :

1)IGL/VSTREET : 50ms
2)Singapore servers : 70-90ms
3)Malaysian Servers : 100-120ms
4)UK servers : 200ms
.....and that doesnt suck by Indian standards:)
Yes, Alliance still provides less than the plan bandwidth. A so called 4:1 connection where a 256kbps pack user gets arnd 30kbps d/l speeds which is lesser than 1/8th of 256kbps. But then again its a good 300 bux cheaper than BSNLs 256 UL Plan.

@ Sabby...

ye, the 160kbps package users r reportedly getting more bandwidth because the entire plan is new...its just for advertisement.:bleh:, most other plans are same as before with the added PLUS(for extra night time bandwidth). Major price cuts in the 1mbps plan(previously 2199/-) and introduction of a new 2mbps plan.

And thanx, i'll try out ur trick once i get hold of my planned download rig

@mithun,

okay, but be sure that the Alliance persons don't hear this trick or they will do something about it. :P
