wats the current upload speed in alliance ? i m thinkin to shift to alliance from bsnl.. any
alliance user from kolkata ?

haan bhai bolo. i am using shristi broadand. used to be alliance previously.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

i am using rs 1102rs unlimited 1gb. upload speed is above 90kbps and download 120+............. good but sometimes there is ping loss during heavy rain.

I was a Alliance user sometime, then moved to BSNL.

The reasons I hate Alliance and moved from them:

1. They provide Static IP, doesn't provide any router, your PC is generally connected to a Router placed on your locality. So the problem I used to face is with Rapidshare and all, which doesn't allow us to download multiple files at a same time, and only upto some limit for Free users. So if anyone in my locality is downloading from rapidshare, I used to get "Your IP is already downloading a file".

2. Speed...man...don't remind me of that. I was in a 512kbps connection and didn't ever get more than 10kBps download speed. But nowadays I hear that Alliance got better.

3. They provide connection with MAC Address lock basis, and the guy that comes up for installation says, "Aisa security feature BSNL deta hai??" ROFLMAO  The problem I used to face is, they did it for my PC, and I failed to connect my Lappy and other PC's.

4. Max. time I used to get "Server Timed Out" on 24 Online Client. Means 90% of the time it used to be down.

5. If you just even experience a little bit rain or even a storm, you have to forget your internet for that day. Friends says this thing is still not resolved.

The only thing I liked about them is they used to take action on that very day on which I complained(if complained on the early morning or within afternoon).

So from my personal experience, I'd suggest think minutely and take as many reviews as you can before moving into Alliance.

i am Alliance user...i am using 512kbps plan & getting 40-50 upload & download spedd all time...
899 rs plan i guess ? so theoritically u should get day= 64 kBps and night = 128 kBps max...

can u please post how much download and upload speed u get from a well seeded torrent and weel leeched torrent ? i torrent heavily and planning to use alliance for seeding mostly.. from bsnl i can hardly seed in 10-12 kBps

how is utube ?

and mostly how is browsing ? my bsnl 2mbps provides very good browsing .. i can open up 4 to 5 heavy tabs simultaneously.. same for alliance ?

for repair and maintenance i think local cablewallah will repair it.. is it ?

as krishnandu mentioned cannot i share the connection over wifi to multiple pcs ?

Yes you can, look over the forum, many have figured out how to do that for Alliance broadband.
mac cloning ? if its mac locked then i am doomed cause my router doesnot support that feature.. however i can try pppoe if mac binding is not there

I had Alliance BB a years ago.

My main complain is that Alliance have no authority or control over its BB.

Its totally depend on local cable operator.

And my cable operator(Goutam ,Teledyne) is a real mofo so at present I have no Alliace.

And other is Alliance use a spyware called 24Client to log in.

I am a alliance user. Now it is getting better . During the rain this time there were no ping losses . And yeah mainly it depends on the local cable operator . Mine one is good so am quite happy. Now for MAC ID that can be removed by requesting them. And am using a wifi router to share my connection to my laptop and phone i face no problem in that . The only thing that makes me stick to alliance is the LAN and now the torrent bt cache they have introduced , Cause of which I downloaded 33-35gB in one night :) . I am getting 65~70kBps download while i pay for a 384kbps connection [nothing special at night] . Upload 24kBps~. PPPoE is not supported by alliance ,confirmed from the system admin . And they provide a static LAN IP , your global IP keeps changing with every login . And for rapidshare and like ,I had made a script to work with jdownloader [on ubuntu] to enable limitless free downloading and it worked as a charm .

plz clarify

1. upload speed

2. browsing

3. torrent cache.. is it available for all areas ? i saw some trick u r using with alliance in the past,,, is this u have mentioned and can any alliance user avail that ?

4. as monsoon has arrived can it be reliable.

5, one of my freind was using wishnet and though u cannot share the net simultaneously but it was not locked to one system.. we can use it on diff systems ,,i guess it goes same for alliance too..

well i have not recharged this month last month I was getting 24kBps upload speed.

Browsing is according to the content and package . All i can say that I am getting good pings to the respecting servers.

Yeah torrent cache is available on all area irrespective of your location.

Generally in monsoon there used to be problems but not as much as most users say . But this time surprisingly I didn't face any ping loss of disconnection. And I think its wrong to say that no provider faces any problem in the monsoon . everyone have their pros and cons the only matter is what works for you .

And lastly the locked to one machine is due to MAC ID lock . You just have to write a mail to the respective providers to remove the lock .I have done that and it is working good. And if you have a router placed then you can also clone the MAC ID of the PC easily . My net is used simultaneously on a laptop , my PC and 2 mobiles .

And lastly just check with current users in the locality that the cable operator providing the connection is good or not . If he is not good then you wil be in trouble .
