Altec Lansing MX-5020

I recently came across reviews for this one and wanted to know of anyone here has used them and how they rack up to the MX-5021s. I like the MX-5021s but it is a real hassle to move around and the bass is gonna be a bit too loud for my 3.5 x 3.5 hostel room and so wanted to get a decent sounding 2.0 system.

Any other recommendations would also be welcome.
 
you can look at the klipsch promedia 2.0 ultras as well, the volume pot going kaput is a common issue though
 
I've done a bit of looking around in the net and possible choices seem to be MX5020, Gigaworks T20, Audioengine A2s and Promedia Ultra 2.0s.

Any idea where I can get to listen to any of these in Blore?

Around 5k would be the sweet spot as far as price is concerned.
 
I already have a Philips SHP805, an ep-630(which suck btw) and an AKG K234P(which is the reason other earphones sucks :P). So well covered on that front but I really feel like having a decent but portable set of speakers too.
 
Decent + Portable = AE2

The Gigaworks T20 u mentioned are a definite no no at the price point they are hawked at. I'd advice takeng a look at afforfdable nearfield active monitors, even seconds might serve you well.

Also take a look at the new kid on the block the "Edifier".

Ask the experts around here, give ur ears a chance and you may find the speakers you need.
