Altec Lansing MX5021 or MX6021

I have a MX5021 (3yrs old)
It was faulty from 1.5yrs, but i sent it for repairing to altec via my dealer(smc Nehru place).
I sent it 2 months back bt after 2-3 tries of repairing board altec guy has given up and giving a MX6021 for 3500/- extra.
Any suggestions ?

MX6021 is no good.

i dont know if you have heard them or not but they sound pretty boring after 5021. if you take them, you ll have a bulky system to claim that you got something.

Other option is if you take your system back and can wait .. then selling 5021's stuff by parts, you might recover some amount. if you price the components properly, maybe u ll get decent chunk back. Compare that 'recovered amount' maybe with the price at which u sell the 6021 might give you good idea, cuz i really dont believe anybody with 5021 as an experience would use 6021 for too long.

100% agreed. I have owned a MX5021, then a Z5500 ,then a MX6021 and currenty SONY HT-DDW5500 6.2Ch HTiB.

The Z5500 and MX6021 did not stand anywhere near the MX5021 when compared to audio quality (strictly music and 2 ch stuff).

The Z5500 was good for surround sound in movies and games but was not so for music.

The SONY HT-DDW5500 is a different story altogether.

Take that MX5021 post it up here i am sure TE folks like Sarang,Gannu,Cranky and many others would help you fixing it .Never leave the gold and buy plastic

Dude I know zilch about electronics. Sangram knew the stuff, helped me with the required components and I did the soldering part. That's it.

Add Raghu to that list.
