Alternative to Airtel BB for speeds <=256kbps

Hi all...

I am looking for a meaningful alternative to Airtel Broarband:@ which i currently have. The connection right now i am using is a 128kbps but i dont get more than 96kbps in day, and i dont make any phone calls still i am charged around Rs. 180 for phone calls! So effectively i am paying around Rs.900 per month for a puny little 90kbps connection (ignoring night speeds).

So what do you think are some deserving alternatives to Airtel BB. I am considering these:

1. YOU tele (IQARA)
2. TATA Indicom wireless
3. Reliance Broadband
4. BSNL

My specific requirements are:
1. Minimum 192kbps speed.
2. Unlimited all day.

Can you suggest anything good?:)

p.s. I live in Gurgaon (NCR).
 
Try Tata... they have a 256k plan for 1000+tax. Also it doesn't come with a phone so they can't charge you for calls.
 
yup, if you can stomach the prices go for tata .. but now i think they have reduced prices a bit
 
My friend has 256k plan from reliance and its pretty good. He gets minimum of 31k in torrents stable all the time! The speeds are pretty good, although customer care has to improve loads. He pays around 1.1k per month
 
reliance gives 300kbps. download speeds avg abt 34-35. Same price as tata if u take the prepaid option.
 
^I picked up Tata prepaid. 11 odd k for 256K, one year. Roughly 960-980 per month. Fairly reasonable. Good speeds on downloads.

Whats the installation etc. And do they take money for 1 yr in lumpsum?
 
Why don't you get the Airtel 256kbps unlimited plan for 999/month??

Alternatively if BSNL is there you can get that too for around 900/month

Taxes extra of course.

I have used both airtel and BSNL.

Currently on airtel, I get around 200kbps in day and around 400kbps at night.
 
^@DCEite.. zero installation charges. And yea,lumpsum. You can pay for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months.. your call. Cost pm goes down for the longer periods, of course..
 
but if u take 3month or 6 month or 12 month plans you wont be able to change the plan during the period.

Don't get that? Is that a bundled charge?

And anyway, if you are paying ~900/-, you might as well pay 999/- and ask airtel to upgrade you to a 256 day/512 night connection....

Most of us here get at least 25-26KB speeds on this in the daytime, and Airtel has the most stable connection of all ISPs I have seen with near zero downtimes

Perhaps some other ISPs may give you better (or closer to promised) speeds but none beat the stability of a Airtel BB connection
