Amazon has announced new versions of its highly successful Kindle Fire tablets , the Kindle Fire HD 7 and 8.9 .

The Kindle fire HD has 8.9 inch display with 1920x1200 resolution ( 254ppi ) , its just 8.8mm thick and weighs at 20 ounces . The screen has polarizing filter and lamination , which reduces glare by 25 percent

The internals include a TI OMAP 4470 processor , front facing HD camera , stereo sepeakers , dual-band Wi-Fi , HDMI output , 16/32/64GB storage . The 16GB version will cost $299 and starts shipping on Nov 20th .

The smaller 7 inch Kindle Fire HD has almost same internals except the lower resolution screen , which has 1280x800 pixels resolution . The smaller 7 inch Kindle Fire HD promises up to 11 hours of battery life .
The 7 inch 16GB version will cost $199 .

Saw the event and was really impressed with the Kindle HD , awesome device, atleast tablets are coming out with hd screens if not lappies.

Anyway the glare is reduced by laminating the screen with the touch panels not just by polarizing the light ('course it has its job there as well) .
 
The LTE version over the wifi only is 200$ pricey. But yes it has 32GB memory also.
But still 200$ more for the LTE Part. Seems more like what Apple does.
