Amazon Cuts Download Feature: What It Means for Kindle Users

Starting February 26, 2025, Amazon will disable the ability to download purchased eBooks for manual transfer to Kindle devices via USB. This feature, though overlooked by many, provided a crucial backup option and conversion capability to formats like EPUB, especially vital for users without reliable Wi-Fi. The change raises concerns about digital ownership, as Amazon has a history of removing titles from its platform. While users can still access books on Wi-Fi-enabled devices, this marks a significant shift in how Kindle users manage their digital libraries.

How do you feel about Amazon's decision to remove this feature? Will it impact your reading habits?

I purchased the Bigme B751C last year with the same Kaleido 3 display as Amazon and Kobo, and it is a lot more practical to use with Android 11 and several display adjustment settings. Basically has every connectivity option possible and also makes for a great RSS feed reader for the web. After rooting it and removing all bloatware, I see no reason to ever purchase a Kindle again.
