Would love to own the Kindle Paperwhite. Though I hardly use my original kindle even when I have so many books pending.

I wish amazon does something like Kobo Aura HD. With that in market, Kindle Paperwhite seems a second best choice. I too am using the Kindle touch since the last couple of years but 1.3gb user storage, no audio is what is stopping me from going for Paperwhite.

I was reading the Kindle Paperwhite 3G description on amazon.in and there is a part where it is written

Unlike mobile phones, with Kindle Paperwhite 3G there are no monthly charges or commitments - Amazon pays for Kindle Paperwhite 3G's wireless connectivity.

What does this exactly mean ? No SIM card or anything to put in the Kindle and it uses any 3G signal available in the air in that area ? Like they have some deal with the wireless providers like vodafone/airtel etc ?

Yes I have the Kindle 2 cellular device (international model). There is no provision to put in the SIM and I can access the kindle store and download books. Can also browse wikipedia. There are no charges for it. Have not tested it in remote locations but it works in all cities where I have taken it.

yes, amazon pays but do note you can only access either the kindle store/wikipedia over 3g. Nothing else ;)
