Hi,

I am trying to buy this CPU from our market section. http://www.techenclave.com/members-market/amd-sempron-140-hardly-used-prices-162123.html

On my response seller replied he did not have original box(As he threw away:ashamed: for almost brand new CPU;)) nor the bill contains SN of the CPU. Well later he submitted SN of the CPU and same was forwarded to AMD RMA department for the verification. They replied with the mandatory requirements of Box /Invoice with SN. I suspected OEM CPU but seller still claiming warranty part won't need Box / Bill.

I am very confused about proceeding with the deal. Please Help.

Thanks

you asked AMD and they said box/invoice is mandatory than don't ignore that,

(even though when I RMAed with Intel they did not asked for anything) I'll still say at least get the bill if not box

as seller will not RMA your product but AMD so listen to them because than they can not deny your claim for this stupid reason. On a second thought I have rarely seen a CPU giving problem.

see if you trust big company like Amd or that random guy in te market. Your call :-)

Thanks for the help guys. I am buying through eBay with 5 days testing warranty. Also he is giving 7 days money back guaranty on eBay.

The purchase receipt is mandatory for AMD RMA...unless you are availing rma via your dealer...in which case..dealer will have to produce his purchase bill.

the process to RMA AMD:

1. email amd about the issue. (rma.india@amd.com)

2. They will get back to your issue in order to help you troubleshoot with all possible solution which an end user can try. (Thus...mentioned whatever you have tried in the 1st mail itself to speed up the process.

3. Once they are convinced that the cpu needs verification and rma, they will send you RMA Claim form and will ask to send along a scanned copy of purchase proof in email.

4. You need to take the CPU + Heatsink to the nearest Accelfrontline (or whatever concerned RMA center designated by AMD) for verification of the cpu.

5. Once Verified, they will accept your cpu+heatsink and will assign you a different rma number from their end.

6. You shall receive the replacement product directly from them within 10 working days from the creation of RMA at RMA center.

(All the process in between will be updated to you via mail (like receiving, processing and dispatch of the return material..)

PS: Just saw the concerned sale thread..

Bill Xerox will do.

Just incase..request a scanned copy of the original too...

If supplier Invoice is not available then the acceptance of RMA part is at the discretion of AMD.

...one of the terms in the RMA Form

I'm sure it'll be okay to go ahead with the deal if the seller can arrange a duplicate bill with the s/n of the processor mentioned on it.

According to one of his message he will not able to provide bill because of multiple items, Although it's mentioned in the thread. Even whatever document he has does not contain SN. I have requested again Xerox copy ( He is searching ) of the bill and opted eBay route.

amd may issue rma on the basis of manufacturing date then.
check the batch number to assume warranty period ;)

i suppose those semprons unlock to X2s too :P

its the supplier invoice not the bill of the retailer or wholesaler

thats iff that u get if u go to ur dealer

that is not at alll necessar these days

supplier invoice = the invoice from your supply...can be anyone in the retail chain leading to end customer.

I recently RMAed a dead Sempron 140. Only the CPU and the original HSF is required by accel Frontline. Also the HSF must be the one bundled with the particular CPU only. No bill or original box was asked as they verified the warranty via CPU serial no. The only problem in that case then that the warranty is calculated from the date of entry of that paricular CPU in warranty system rather than the purchase date.

@virus32win ---- Latest sempron 140s unclock easily almost 90% success rate. Get a new one , it costs just 1.7k...I have no idea why yiu are trying to save that 350 bucks !

strange.. acelfrontline at Mumbai does not accept cpu without rma number issued by amd directly through mail.
i know it is inconvenient but had no choice but to contact the retailer in one the cases where emailing was not possible for a friend of mine.

but again i found accelfrontline people at mumbai not at all co-operative or helpful .. with seagate rma too.

Ya I find in MUmbai almost all service centre ppl gives a trouble. Rashi/Asus is a big pain in Mumbai , whereas in Bangalore Asus/Accel both are right in SP Road and quite good to deal with. Only pain in Bangalore is usually for you wont believe ....Sony products :P

i will try speaking in marathi with RPTech guys from next time..might just work... :P

sony is pathetic here too..

accelfrontline mumbai/tardeo used to service sonyErricson too until last year..they have been discontinued now.

bt in most of the places their service centers are generally allotted to distributors or major retailers..which is the case here in Navi Mumbai..those guys are really lazy.. take 1month to replace the charging/data connector on a phone..that too after reminding every week :| :(

although no idea about other sony products :P

#pratikb: Here you go Sire --> http://www.amd.com/i...s/aboutamd.aspx.

I got my AMD 965 [C3 stepping], replaced from Accel Services, Nehru Place Delhi.

This is what they asked me to submit -->

S/N of processor, it is located in 2 places on the PiB itself OR on the heat-sink shell of the processor [the guy on the desk verified using the stamp on my processor heat-sink].

Valid RMA request no., registered my processor on AMD India site for RMA [gave all problems too, so they did not ask me to wait while they tested the processor], most chances your no. will take ~2 days to be updated if it is not -- call up AMD Bangalore and ask them to update your RMA request, this will be instantaneous.

Heat-sink was also submitted along with processor in its card-board box. No need to submit actual PiB.

Make sure that there is no physical damage to the processor / heat-sink fan, mine had some marks from the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ I was using instead of the stock HSF.

It will take ~10 days for AMD to ship your replacement OR original processor back to you.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!
