AMD has released their latest new processor based on their Vishera silicon i.e. Piledriver micro-architecture. The AMD FX-4130 aims to be a budget offering by giving customers a very good price to performance ratio (that is the only thing AMD has been forced into doing the last couple of years). The FX-4130 thanks to it's affordable pricing actually turns out to be a real nice quad core offering for those on a diet (budget).
AMD FX-4130

The new AMD FX-4130 aims to be that $100 CPU every budget game builder wants in their config. And it seems that AMD might be successful in their endeavor given this Piledriver based CPU runs at a nominal 3.80 GHz clock speed with Turbo of 3.90 GHz (could have been more).

As you can see, what AMD aims to offer is slightly more performance at almost negligible power draw increase, and that too at an affordable price. The FX-4130 replaces the Bulldozer based FX-4100 and hence brings with it IPC improvements, performance gain per clock as well as higher clock speeds to end up as fast as up to 9% more than the FX-4100. The TDP is a bit on the higher side though. We would have liked and appreciated a 95W TDP much more than we do a 125W TDP.

The CPU combines 4 MB of L2 and 4 MB of L3 cache to give a total of 8 MB cache. AMD does claim a 22% performance lead v/s Intel's Core i3 2100, which is the closest competing Intel processor at this price range (actually $10-15 costlier).

AMD has been in a tight spot for far too long, and we only wait to see when they finally pull out of this slumber and replicate the success of their graphics department (formerly ATI) with their CPU segment as well.
