Seagate 250GB,Desi SMPS (techCom)

On Windows, i was using K10STAT and Phenom MSR tweaker for customizing
P states.
The same i wanted to implement onto mine Linux Distros--- Ubuntu 10.04.1,OpenSUSE11.3 and CentOS 5.5.
1) How to accomplish the same on Linux and is there any software via which we can view the current CPU vid on linux... ?
2) and if we are able to change P states on linux, would VID be highlighted at Realtime as on Windows ?
I had seen some pages highlighting the same, but still can someone point at some HOWTO, as i was not able to understand those ... novice here
