GTX550 Ti is a GTS 450, which doesn't even match HD5770 well. This one will be overclocked enough to beat HD5770.

Point is, HD6850 and HD6870 are better and faster

I have a budget of ~12k for a GPU, so it'd be better if I wait for 6870 rather then settling for 6850 right?
Wait until 6870 come to ur budget.
I'll buy also.

HEXUS.net - News :: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti scheduled for March 15? : Page - 1/1

did you even check the link i gave above?

The rumoured card would slot in below last month's GTX 560 Ti, and with NVIDIA seemingly sticking with its performance-orientated GTX nomenclature, 550 Ti performance should be fairly potent.

According to the leaked information, the card will make use of a new GF116 die and 1GB of GDDR5 memory hooked up to a 128-bit interface. Clock speeds remain unknown, but the GTX 550 Ti's TDP is said to drop to as little as 110W. That's a considerable step down from GTX 560 Ti, but VR-Zone claims the new mid-range card is 35 per cent faster than the ageing AMD Radeon HD 5770, and might just be able to creep up close to GeForce GTX 460 levels.

i quoted it from Hexus who has quoted it from VRZone

in case you are feeling lazy to actually google

GTX550 - Google Search

only downside i can see is 128bit memory interface

seriously nVidia?

Its really not worth to wait... In India most sellers sells graphic card at high price the whole time... they only reduce the price when either the graphic cards that they are selling gonna get discontinued or just sell them at low price to clear the stock of old graphic cards when new graphic cards are on the horizon to launch... I really wudn't suggest u to wait coz if what u r expecting doesn't happen then u will get nothing but disappointment... I wud rather advice u to save some money and Buy HD6950 1GB which is selling for 14.5k now its a great VFM card... the price of it may come down to 14 to 14.2k in next few weeks... :) Hope for the best :)

Well 6950, can my VX450 handle it? I doubt that.
You have a unlocked PhenomII X2 and the since the VX450 doesn't natively have 2*PCI-E connectors i would suggest a PSU upgrade to VX550.

Will a PSU upgrade be required for 6870 too? I reckon the power consumption of 6870 is on par with 5850
It should be fine provided you dont OC your processor & GPU
