AMD Releases 7970GHz Edition To Take Performance Crown Back From Nvidia
AMD's flagship 7970 was the fastest single-GPU card until Nvidia launched the GTX 680 , which took the performance crown from AMD .
Now AMD has bumped up the clock speed on the 7970 releasing the 7970 GHz Edition .
The card looks same as the standard 7970 , but has higher core clock at 1000MHz compared to the 925MHz of stock version . The memory clock also has been increased from 5.5GHz to 6GHz .
The AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition comes fully equipped with 3GBs of ultra-fast GDDR5 frame buffer, AMD Eyefinity 2.0 technology, and support for PCI Express 3.0 and multi-GPU configurations with AMD CrossFireâ„¢ technology.
The AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition will be available as early as next week from add-in board (AIB) partners including ASUS, Gigabyte, HIS, MSI, Sapphire, TUL and XFX starting at USD$499 SEP.
