Well, many of them may know abt the mobo n proc crash(earlier ones..) after which i bought amd sempron processor and a7v400 mobo. I have even forgot wat the speed of the cpu is ( 2600+ or 2800+ :ashamed: )When i checked in the BIOS, it showed

cpu type: athlon xp

cpu speed: 1100 Mhz

FSB :100 mhz

DRAM:133 MHz

well, in mobo, its written u can change some dsw switches to change the cp frequency but u shud know which all speeds the cpu supports.. i dont remeber anythign abt cpu and also donno abt its support.. to which speed i change the fsb? to gain the original cpu speed

i know i m a real noob :ashamed: but still pls help.. :)

The CPU has a 11.0x multiplier, which means its a Sempron 2600+

Right now its running at 1.1 Ghz with an FSB speed of 100Mhz
It should be running at 1.83 Ghz with an FSB speed of 166Mhz

- Now, refer to your motherboard manual about the DSW switches.
- Open up your PC and identify the location on the motherboard where these switches are present
- According to the manual, the DSW switches for an FSB speed of 166Mhz are switch 1 set to the "OFF" position and switches 2,3,4,5 set to the "ON" position. Set the switches as mentioned and then start up your PC.

It should be running at the correct CPU speed now :)
Be very careful when adjusting the switches, and make sure its dont correctly.

but man, how lame was the installer to do such a blunder, wonder howmany more pcs he assembled and am sure that wud go unnoticed..
