AMD To Slash Trinity APU Prices In April To Make Way For Richland APUs Launch In June

AMD will be dropping the prices of its current Accelerated Processing Units ( APUs ) next month to make way for next-gen Richland APUs which are set to launch in June.

According to DigiTimes, the prices of AMD APU lineup including A8-5600K, FX-8320, FX-6300 and FX-4300 is expected to get slashed by 8-15 percent.



AMD recently released its Richland mobile APUs and the desktop variants are expected to be announced in June. It will have updated x86 Piledriver cores and Radeon Cores 2.0 based on second generation GCN ( Graphics Core Next ) architecture.
The flagship Richland APU - A10 6800K is speculated to have four cores at 4.1GHz and 4.4GHz Turbo with Radeon HD 8970D graphics clocked at 844MHz.

The price drop and release of next gen Richland APUs will help AMD compete better with Intel and its upcoming "Haswell" processors which are set to launch in June.
