According to a report carried by German language tech site Planet3DNow, AMD motherboard partners are working on the assumption of a March 2016 launch for the AM4 platform. If this information is accurate it could imply an early launch for the motherboards and perhaps even for the associated Zen processors – a whole six months to one year early.
AM4 motherboards will support both CPUs and APUs revealed AMD, back in May. The 14nm Summit Ridge 'All New AMD FX CPU' and the 28nm Bristol Ridge seventh generation A-Series Desktop APUs will be supported by the AM4 platform, which brings more modern I/O and DDR4 to the table.

Would love to see this happen. A newer and a more affordable platform is a welcome change. Keeping fingers crossed, hope they release by march, with at least Sandy-Ivy bridge ish performance and power consumption.

looks like they'll be launching the platform along with bristol apus first.
Zen is expected towards the later half/end of 2016.
the delay regarding zen is till not a sure thing yet. hopefully it remains just a rumor.

Zen won't be appearing until Q4 2016 or later, this platform launch is aimed at supporting the Bristol+Summit Ridge APU's that are slated for early 2016.
This will definitely help in reducing DDR4 prices and allow end users to narrow down on some decent boards just in time for Zen.

Edit: @Crapmypants Lol you beat me to it.

Can you tell a bit more about the apus ?
Will they be using the same socket as zen ?

Bristol Ridge is based on the older excavator architecture and process node (28nm) and it's targeted at low-mid range systems.
The higher end Summit Ridge APU's based on zen will launch later in the year along with the desktop CPU's and yes, all of them will be using the same socket.
