hmm..so aren't those number of FEW games with physx support seems like a bit more now after this list? :ohyeah:..@TC..if u can't wait for DX11 cards then simply go with GTX275(considering that u won't need new gpu after u'll upgrade ur monitor) or just buy GTS250 if u rn't planning or won't upgrade ur monitor soon..

btw which PSU do u have??

hey how did heavy rain and GOW 2 cm in that list ( physX list):S

Cming back to the point ............ i would ask you to wait for the dx 11 cards........ there r a lot of rumors gng around that these dx11 cards will perform twice as much as their dx 10 counter parts ( but these dx 11 cards would be overkill for ur monitor )...........and prices are being estimated of being around 260-350$:)......if ur planning to chage ur monitor then wait,if not then go for the gtx 275 zotzc amp... for making it future proof:hap2:

NV will obviously perform better in Physx supported games n ATI will perform better in future games with support of DX11 cuz of its DX10.1 :P..but till then most people will buy a DX11 card :ohyeah:

I’d borrow this analogy which I heard. If you stitch a shirt, would you get the sleeves stitched from one tailor and the body from another? It is possible but it doesn’t mean we should do it. A shirt stitched completely by a single tailor always will look much better. Similarly, AMD on ATI(which is again AMD) would perform in tandem much better than with the nVidia card. Also, with nVidia’s new confusing rebranding, I’d stay away from them for some time. Another point is that AMD has DX10.1 support and are soon coming out with DX11 cards. Whereas nVidia is struggling to move to the new generation DX.

The best advice in the thread has already been given.
I understand your sentiment of taking a few more opinions, but it would be nice if you acknowledged what has been said already. Just saying...

I would suggest you go for a HD 4770 / GTS 250 for now. Both these cards will max out everything on a 19incher /1440 res. You can go in for a mainstream DX11 GPU later on.
Good luck. :)

I totally disagree with your statement mate. Even I was thinking like what you stated above and bought an ATI chipset (M3A78EM) for the 1st time for my x2 550. System was very very slow with regard to booting as well as inside XP it takes much time for any process like copying / installing to start.

Have used it only for 3 days, 4th day went to the dealer and swapped this board for an nvidia version of this board and it worked like a charm....

As far as compatibility is concern ATI Sucks...

ATI or NVidia

im personally NVidia fan but i want to clear sum facts of two similar cards and its simple technical diff,

HD 4890 is the fastest single GPU card from ATI its predecessor is suppose to be NVidia GTX 285(its the fastest sGPU card from NV) but its easily beaten up by Nvidia GTX 275.

both have some hits & misses as well, of course..

Even current generation Geforce cards do not support DX 10.1 and GDDR5 mem
but many ATI HD 4800's cards do... even u c the performance leader is always NVidia cards. only upcoming NVidia's GT200 architecture cards support DX 10.1 & GDDR5!
but VFM cards r always been ATI cards thats is wat make them a gud customer friendly.:)

Cant wait for their GT300 cards..:(
