One more issue to add to my cousin's name :(. He got a XFX 7600GS from US and installed it on his nforce 2 chipset mobo ( some mobo known as krypton) It worked properly for about a day or so and then, while playing fifa, The monitor suddenly switched to lotsa green dead pixel sorta things. uninstalled the drivers and when the system was getting restarted , i noticed that its the same in the initial bios screen which means it is a hardware issue. We removed the 7600 GS and used the onboard graphics which worked properly. I thought it may be an AGP slot issue and so, we used his old 5700LE but it worked properly. So i guess the problem is with the 7600 GS. Did anybody have this problem before :( ? and were they able to resolve it? Let loose ur suggestions, as none of relatives are friends are going or coming from US for the nest few months. So obviously cant send the card for replacement.

Also, since he was playing a high resolution game on widescreen( its the same 19 inch monitor i wrote about in previous thread), did the card sorta burn out? ( he says that he did not check the temperatures when this happened )

Is this the same XFX 7600GS with the passive heatsink? If so, I had two and both of them got screwed. Same issues, artifacts and whatnot. In the process of getting them RMAed.

Well..here goes..one more to the list of screwed up 7600GS..I'm seriously thinking of returning this card as it is still packed n get some other brand which comes with a fan..too bad.. XFX is putting its reputation on stakes with such inferior cooling solutions for its cards...and to worsen things, they seem to be endorsing it as if its a boon to have a noiseless gfx card..well, wots good a noiseless card if its burned to death??

I have only 2 options now..either i find a way to put a fan on top pf the sink or return the card n go for a BIG 7600GS..atleast it comes with a fan..:( Wot say..Bad choice??

card seemed to be good. atleast till it got screwed !!! I think its better to get a fan for it. Does anyone know if there is anyway we can get get it RMAed here in India?

no touchwood...BIG aint a bigget mistake for me

Opinions are always welcome.

Actually, even I never used it. But, before I came to TE, I was in TT only. It was the age of G6. Read lot of bad posts about them.... both quality and service. So, I just can't trust them....

BIG ! even bigger mistake.

go for MSI

MSI --- >> VGA1

MSI --- >> VGA2

also, MSI cards comes with 'StarOSD' and 'D.O.T', 2 most Loved tools for any 'soft-core' over-clocker.

Yeah..maybe..but then, there aint many choices around..in fact, i'd always wanted to have MSI..it was my first choice, but sadly, MSI seems to be so elusive that its not available anywhere in Lamington rd..Somehow, i managed to get a quote on an MSI 7600 GS 256mb card..the dealer quoted me a price of 8.5k for it..that overshoots my budget by 2k..i got this XFX for 6.5k..so it seems, i'm stuck with this black brick of a sink...:(

Rit now, somehow attaching the fan seems to be the only viable option to me..

double sided tapes are your best bet for sticking the fans....else opening the heatsiink willl void the warrnty

wowowoowowowo....wait....

MSI 8.5K :S One can get a Palit 7600GT at that price
I bought it at 7K+VAT(4%) on 18/7/2006.

If you want cheaper solution go for Leadtek, again don't go for BIG and Zebronic's graphics cards
